Greetings to all people of Tuvalu, both in Tuvalu and Kiribati.

The Ministry of Health wishes to again remind all passengers travelling on the vessel returning from Kiribati that it is strictly prohibited to bring any food items of any kind from Kiribati into Tuvalu. This restriction is in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) established by the Ministry of Health.

These measures have been put in place to protect Tuvalu from the outbreak of Rota Virus disease that is currently affecting Kiribati. The SOPs apply specifically to all food items brought directly from Kiribati to Tuvalu.

This notice is therefore reissued to ensure that everyone clearly understands that no food items are permitted to be brought into Tuvalu from Kiribati.

The Ministry of Health sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. However, this decision has been made in the best interest of protecting our country and preventing the disease from reaching Tuvalu
