I would also like to thank my campaign team for the tremendous work they did to promote Tuvalu and my candidacy. This is not a loss but a gain for the Pacific. I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the family of the late Hon. Taukelina Finikaso, a former Member of Parliament and Minister and a fellow lawyer, among so many other things. I am seeing from Bonn that the EU, the US, and Switzerland are opposing the introduction of loss and damage on the agenda at COP27. We MUST come together now--at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Kigali, at the UN Ocean Conference in Lisbon--anywhere we can to promote our cause.
