I would like to congratulate Baroness Patricia Scotland on her re-election at the 2022 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. I would also like to thank my campaign team for the tremendous work they did to promote Tuvalu and my candidacy. This is not a loss but a gain for the Pacific. The Pacific's turn at Commonwealth leadership is coming soon, and I look forward to working with our neighbors and partners to have strong Pacific representative at the Commonwealth into the future!

I am so pleased today that Tuvalu has signed diplomatic relations with The Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the Gabonese Republic in the margins of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. This is how Tuvalu can serve as a leader in the Commonwealth--by always building strong partnerships and consensus. Simon Kofe MP The Commonwealth

I am so proud of the work my team is doing at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Kigali. While promoting my campaign with Foreign Ministers and Leaders from throughout the Commonwealth, Simon Kofe MP is also championing the preservation of our Statehood and maritime boundaries in the face of sea level rise. I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the family of the late Hon. Taukelina Finikaso, a former Member of Parliament and Minister and a fellow lawyer, among so many other things. We are deeply saddened by the loss of such an influential figure in Tuvalu. I leave here a photo from the 2020 Law & Justice Conference, where we were able to engage in congenial discussion with Hon. Finikaso and our fellow legal specialists in Funafuti. Rest well.

I am seeing from Bonn that the EU, the US, and Switzerland are opposing the introduction of loss and damage on the agenda at COP27. We MUST come together now--at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Kigali, at the UN Ocean Conference in Lisbon--anywhere we can to promote our cause. Loss and Damage is real and it must be recognized. Climate change must be stopped through our united action as a Commonwealth. The Commonwealth

I am excited to be meeting again with my friend His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting next week in Rwanda. The Commonwealth gives Small States like Tuvalu strong opportunities to network and lobby with larger states to ensure that our work on climate change, ocean protection, and deep sea mining prevails. I had a stimulating interview today with one of the oldest newspapers in the Caribbean, the Jamaica Gleaner. I am happy for interest in my campaign from the Caribbean and looking forward to engaging with Leaders from all regions at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2022 next week. I am most excited to promote our advocacy against climate change and deep sea mining and join Simon Kofe MP as we spread the Tuvalu message in Rwanda. Jamaica Gleaner

I parted with family today for Kigali and the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2022. Family values are an inspirational part of Tuvalu culture, and I hope to bring this to the fore in Rwanda. Let us value community and bring our Commonwealth family together on climate, oceans, prosperity, and sustainability. I hope these pictures with some of my beloved family members can help guide me through the upcoming Commonwealth Secretary General Election. The Commonwealth

I am happy to see this detailed article from the Today News Post in Australia about my campaign for Commonwealth Secretary General. The Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting is coming as we work through climate change meetings at Bonn and the First Meeting of States Parties to the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in Vienna. This is a critical time for our Pacific and our world. Let us push messages on climate change and Pacific protection at Kigali. Let us show the global community the ideal world our Pacific peoples and Small States can thrive in. The Commonwealth
