πŸ”Ή Exports rose by 41.3% to USD 26.3 billion, while imports increased by 32.9% to USD 26.0 billion, resulting in a USD 0.3 billion trade surplus.

πŸ”Ή Exports to African markets grew by 44.3% to USD 7.2 billion, while intra-EAC exports increased by 33.2% to USD 3.2 billion.

🟀 China remained the region’s largest individual export destination and source of imports. Exports to China nearly doubled to USD 10.7 billion, while imports rose to USD 7.1 billion.

☘️ The UAE and South Africa were also major export destinations, while India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the United States and Japan were among the leading sources of imports.

The EAC Secretariat convened a hybrid meeting of the Coordination Committee to consider the Reviewed Operational Manual for the implementation of the Quota System in the recruitment of staff at the East African Community.

The Committee considered the Report of Technical Experts on the Operational Manual, alongside comments submitted by Partner States on the reviewed Manual.

The EAC hosted a delegation from the Republic of South Sudan comprising officials from the Ministry of Roads and Bridges, Ministry of Transport and South Sudan Roads Authority for a capacity-building session on the EAC Vehicle Load Control Act, 2016. πŸš›πŸŒ

Led by EAC Deputy Secretary General in charge of Infrastructure, Productive and Social Sectors, Hon. Ariik Malueth, the engagement focused on strengthening South Sudan’s capacity to implement harmonised vehicle load control standards, promote road safety and facilitate the smooth movement of goods across the region. 🀝

πŸ”ΉAs part of the engagement, the delegation will benchmark vehicle load management and border clearance practices at a weighbridge along the Arusha–Namanga corridor and the Namanga One Stop Border Post (OSBP).
