Main functions of TPA is to promote the use, development & management of Ports and their hinterlands.
The Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) was established by the Ports Act No. 17 of 2004 as landlord port authority. It operates a system of ports serving the Tanzania hinterland and the land-linked countries of Zambia, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Burundi, Rwanda, Malawi, Uganda and Zimbabwe. Bunge la Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania limepitisha kwa asilimia 100 bajeti ya mapato na matumizi ya Wizara ya Uchukuzi kwa mwaka wa fedha 2026/2027, hatua inayotarajiwa kuendelea kuimarisha sekta ya usafiri na usafirishaji nchini.
Bajeti hiyo iliyowasilishwa Mei 13, 2026 na Waziri wa Uchukuzi, Profesa Makame Mbarawa, imeidhinishiwa jumla ya Shilingi trilioni 2.8 kwa ajili ya matumizi ya kawaida pamoja na utekelezaji wa miradi mbalimbali ya maendeleo.
