Strengthening Laboratory Systems in Tanzania π§ͺπ
Tanzania is advancing its national laboratory system through the Laboratory Systems Maturity Monitoring (LMM) Assessment, jointly led by Africa CDC and World Health Organization African Region.This data-driven initiative identifies gaps, improves quality, and strengthens readiness for public health threats, while informing the Global Fund GC8 application.

The Ministry of Health in collaboration with WHO and with financial support from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, is strengthening vaccine demand creation in Kagera Region, Tanzania. πΉπΏπ
A total of 43 vaccine demand creation team members, including health workers, media professionals, CSOs, Community Health Workers, and faith leaders, have been trained on behavioural insights, barriers to vaccine uptake, and effective community engagement approaches to boost immunization coverage and protect communities from vaccine-preventable diseases.

Raising to***co taxes saves lives and strengthens economies. ππ
In Tanzania, to***co use claims over 21,800 lives each year and costs billions in healthcare and lost productivity. Through collaboration with Parliament, Ministries and partners, WHO supported the use of the WHO-TaXSiM model to strengthen evidence-based to***co taxation policies.
Effective to***co taxes can reduce smoking, prevent youth initiation, ease the burden on health systems, and generate sustainable domestic revenue for health and development priorities.

Advancing in Tanzania π
WHO joined key stakeholders at the PMO, including EMEDO, for a high-level advocacy and sensitization meeting championing drowning prevention efforts in the Lake Zone.
