On behalf of the ES, the Central Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency team held a two-day meeting with stakeholders in Malawi at Sunbird Hotel from 28th to 29th April 2025.
The meeting aimed to present the review of the communication and advocacy strategy, and central corridor transport observatory portal, discuss issues raised from the previous meeting, review the MoU for systems integration and the selection of a STAREP member from Malawi. After the presentations, the transporters were given a platform to talk about the challenges facing them during their movement of cargo across the corridor.

On 30th April and 1st May, the Executive Secretary of the Central Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency and his team attended a meeting in Zanzibar organized by TAFFA. The meeting brought together more than 400 stakeholders in logistics and trade across the region. Hon. Hemedi Suleiman Abdallah, second VP of Zanzibar, officially opened it. The meeting focused on building resilience and enhancing multi-model global transport. As well, the meeting provided a platform for freight forwarders to discuss challenges and propose solutions.

The Executive Secretary of CCTTFA, Adv. Flory OKANDJU, welcomed Ms. Anne Hahn, the GIZ Country Director in Tanzania and the East African Community at the CCTTFA Secretariat for a courtesy visit. They had a long conversation on activities that align with both organizations and the ongoing Tripartite partnership between CCTTFA, GIZ, and AUDA-NEPAD aimed at transforming the Central Corridor from a transport corridor into a Green Economic Corridor. They also agreed to enhance the cooperation in various areas along the corridor.

The Executive Secretary of the Central Corridor Adv. Flory Okandju participated in the official launching ceremony of the system integration for data exchange between DGDA & CCTTFA in Kinshasa, marking a major step in boosting efficiency in transit transport operations.
The integration of systems between the DGDA and the OTCC comes at the right time, just after the accession of Zambia to the Central Corridor, through which transit a big quantity of import-export goods from DRC. This will allow monitoring uninterrupted flow of cargo from origin to destination via transit countries.

The Republic of Malawi and the Democratic Republic of Congo signed a Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) in Kinshasa during the CCTTFA Interstate Council of Ministers Meeting. This agreement aims to enhance connectivity and foster deeper cooperation between the two nations.
The Central Corridor, a vital trade route connecting the landlocked countries to the Indian Ocean, has seen a surge in economic importance in recent years. By joining the CCTTFA, Zambia has formally integrated its transport infrastructure with the existing corridor, paving the way for enhanced trade flows and economic development.
The inclusion of Zambia is expected to further strengthen the Central Corridor's position as a preferred trade route for regional and international commerce. It will also contribute to the overall economic growth and prosperity in the region.

Today, the Republic of Zambia officially joined the Central Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency (CCTTFA) as its seventh member state. This significant step took place during CCTTFA extraordinary Council of Ministers Meeting in Kinshasa and marks the formal integration of the Central Corridor and the Dar es Salaam corridor, aiming to enhance trade and economic development in the region.

CCTTFA Executive Secretary Adv. OKANDJU OKONGE Flory while on official mission in Rwanda held a meeting with Mr. Stephan Ruzibiza, Private Sector Foundation (PSF) Rwanda Chairperson and CCTTFA Board Member. Their discussions focused on the just concluded Tanzania-Rwanda Business Forum and Consultative Meeting supported by CCTTFA in partnership with Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) and Tanzania High Commission in Rwanda where PSF Rwanda members participated in high numbers. He also briefed him on other Central Corridor projects being implemented in Rwanda.
ES also had a chance to visit with the DRC Country Director for Trade Mark Africa based in Kigali to discuss areas of partnership in implementation of CCTTFA agenda in the member states.
