This week, we spotlight CashMe Tanzania Limited, a peer-to-peer invoice discounting platform founded in 2018.

SMEs often wait weeks or months for customers to pay their invoices. CashMe lets them sell outstanding invoices on its platform and get paid within 48 hours.

Financing starts at TZS 100,000, and businesses can choose which invoices to discount. Multiple lenders can co-fund a single invoice, which opens up a new investment option for ordinary Tanzanians beyond bank deposits.

CashMe is the first Tanzanian crowdfunding platform to be licensed by the Capital Markets and Securities Authority (CMSA).

As a FUNGUO investee, we are proud to see CashMe help SMEs close their working capital gaps with local capital.

🎙️ New Episode Out Now!

In our recent episode, WAGA Technologies and Kapyee Motors unpack what it takes to scale in Tanzania’s EV sector.

As Tanzania’s e-mobility sector grows, the conversation around climate action often stops at the obvious—planting trees, reducing emissions. But real change requires infrastructure. It requires local manufacturing. It requires rethinking what we import versus what we build.

Import duties are shifting. The market is ready. The question is: who’s going to do the impossible?

🎬 Behind every great event is a team that makes it happen.

In this short documentary, members of the organising committee look back on the journey: how Innovation Week began, how it has grown into one of the country’s leading innovation platforms, and what it took to bring this year’s edition to life. From securing partners to late nights keeping content and systems running, they share the challenges, the lessons and the moments that made it all worthwhile.

They also reflect on the energy young people brought to the week, the conversations between the ecosystem and policymakers, and why platforms like this matter for Tanzania’s development ambitions.

But the conversation doesn’t end here. There’s still so much to unpack, and more content on what happened during the week will be shared soon, so stay tuned.

isn’t just an annual event. It’s an open conversation about what it will take to get where we want to go, and the actions that must come next.

The Media Symposium at Innovation Week Tanzania 2026

Tanzania’s media landscape is changing fast. Podcasters, YouTubers, bloggers and TikTok storytellers are now reaching audiences in ways traditional media often can’t, with a closeness and authenticity people trust.

Dira 2050 is a vision for every Tanzanian, and it will only succeed if people across every region and generation understand it and see themselves in it. That takes more than press releases. It takes meeting people where they already are, on the platforms they use, in the languages that speak to them.

On 1 September, content creators, media houses and development actors sat in one room to explore what becomes possible when these two worlds connect. The creator economy may just be one of the most untapped assets in Tanzania’s development story.
