The Global Landscapes Forum Africa 2026 brought participants from 135 countries to Nairobi. China highlighted its environmental philosophy of "two mountains" concept, which holds that “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets”. The concept belongs to not only China but also the world.

Neither China or the U.S. can remodel each other, but they can choose how they want to engage. The right choice is to commit to the principle of mutual respect, hold the line on peaceful coexistence, and strive for the prospect of win-win cooperation. A Pew poll released on April 14 shows that the number of US respondents expressing positive views of China has nearly doubled since 2023, reaching 27%. In a street interview of describing China in three words, economy, power and roots kept coming up from young Americans. One New Yorker put it bluntly: "My algorithm tends to shine a bad light on China. But I feel like there's more to it than just that."

In China, walking alone at night or leaving things unattended is very ordinary and safe, which draws a lot of attention from overseas on social media. This sense of safety comes from governance, social trust and long-standing cultural values working together.
