🇮🇳🧘‍♀️🇹🇿 Pre-IDY 2026 | Yoga for Women’s Empowerment through Sports

As part of the ongoing celebrations of the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026, the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, High Commission of India, Dar es Salaam organised a special Yoga Workshop for the Women’s Cricket Team at Tanzania Cricket Association on 26 May 2026.

Conducted by Mr. Bikash Kumar Purohit, Teacher of Indian Culture (Yoga), the session highlighted the transformative role of Yoga in enhancing physical fitness, mental resilience, concentration and holistic well-being among sportspersons.

The enthusiastic participation of the players reflected the growing global acceptance of Yoga as India’s timeless gift to humanity, fostering harmony, discipline and empowerment through wellness.

🇮🇳 - 🇹🇿 Cooperation in Yoga and Cricket!

On 25 May 2026, H.E. Mr. Biswadip Dey, High Commissioner of India to Tanzania, attended a Yoga session organised at the Tanzania Cricket Association as part of the ongoing Pre-International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 activities.

The players engaged with the High Commissioner to appreciate yogic practices, Pranayama, and Meditation for enhanced focus, discipline, mental well-being, and excellence in their sporting careers.

The Yoga session was conducted by Mr. Bikash Kumar Purohit, TIC (Yoga) at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), under the High Commission of India, Dar es Salaam.

On 22nd May 2026, Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre organized a lecture session for the students of Tambaza High School and Afro Swahili Group on the History of Indian Classical Music.

Mr. Abhyshek Mukhopadhyay TIC ( Tabla ) and Dr. Shyam Sunder Sharma TIC ( Vocal ) given their demonstration on their respective topics. This workshop helped the students to understand the Indian Cultural Music Artform.

The session was led by Mr. Bikash Kumar Purohit, Teacher of Indian Culture (Yoga), highlighting the role of Yoga in promoting mental well-being, mindfulness, and a balanced lifestyle among youth and professionals.
