Members of the Parliament of Tanzania representing the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Africa Region (Tanzania Branch) have held bilateral talks with their counterparts from the Parliament of Malawi (Malawi Branch).
The discussions, held on 29 April 2026 at the CPA Africa Regional Headquarters in Dodoma, Tanzania.
These Members of Parliament visited the Parliament of Tanzania to study parliamentary operations, strengthen the friendly and professional ties between Tanzania and Malawi, and discuss common challenges facing African nations within the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA).

BARAKA LEONARD, SECRETARY OF THE CPA AFRICA REGION, HOSTS PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATION FROM MALAWI IN DODOMA
The Regional Secretary of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Africa Region, Mr. Baraka Leonard, has held talks with a delegation of Members of Parliament from the Malawi Branch of the CPA. The Malawian delegation was led by the Honorable Ilyas AbdulKarim.
The meeting took place on April 29, 2026, at the CPA Africa Regional Headquarters located in Dodoma, Tanzania.
These Members of Parliament visited the Parliament of Tanzania to study parliamentary operations, strengthen the friendly and professional ties between Tanzania and Malawi, and discuss common challenges facing African nations within the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA).

The Regional Secretariat of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Africa Region, led by Assistant Regional Secretary Mr. Daniel Eliufoo, held discussions with Members of Parliament of Malawi (CPA Malawi Branch) under the leadership of Hon. Ilyas AbdulKarim.
The meeting took place on April 28, 2026, at the CPA Africa Regional Headquarters in Dodoma, Tanzania.
The visit formed part of a broader effort by the Malawian delegation to engage with the Parliament of Tanzania, with the aim of understanding the Secretariat’s operations and gaining practical insights into the planning and organization of major events, particularly the CPA Africa Annual General Meetings and Conferences in which Malawi is the next host.

The Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (Africa Region), Rt. Hon. Fabakary Tombong Jatta, MP has chaired the 90th Executive Committee Meeting of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (Africa Region) today 5th March, 2026 at Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre, Namibia.
Among other things, the meeting, considered Reports of the four Sub-Committees of the Executive Committee which are Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians, Programme, Planning and Finance, Budget; and Regional Representatives.
Further the meeting deliberated on offer and acceptance to host future Governance Meetings of the CPA Africa Region.

Today, 4th March, 2026, the Regional Treasurer of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Africa Region, Hon. Enos Asiimwe, MP, chaired a crucial Budget Committee meeting at the Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre in Namibia.
The committee focused on key financial governance matters, including:-
• Minutes Review: Formally adopting the records from the previous Budget Committee meeting held on August 12, 2025, in Banjul, The Gambia.
• Financial Oversight: Reviewing the Annual Financial Performance Report as of December 31, 2025, to ensure fiscal transparency and regional accountability.

Today, March 3, 2026, Hon. Lukas Muha, MP, Regional Representative (Southern Africa) for the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Africa Region, chaired a meeting of the Regional Representatives Sub-Committees at the Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre in Namibia.
The session focused on reviewing comprehensive activity reports from the Central, East, West, and Southern Africa sub-regions. Additionally, the committee deliberated on critical updates regarding CPA International matters to ensure regional alignment with global parliamentary standards.
