HOW GOD CAME INTO THE BONNKE-FAMILY (Testimony)
The Bonnke-Clan from East-Germany did not know Jesus. This was my family. My grandfather August Bonnke was very sick indeed. A mysterious disease had knocked him down, which doctors could not diagnose. He suffered excruciating pains and screamed day and night for years. But then a miracle happened. An American missionary of the “Assembly of God” lost in 1922 his way in the enormous forests, where my people lived. His name was Louis Graf. These missionaries were full of the Holy Spirit. Wherever they went they prayed for the sick and saw mighty miracles. When Louis Graf got lost in the forest and came to our village, the first question was “Is there anybody sick here?” O yes! It was my very own grandfather.
Louis Graf entered August Bonnke’s household like a blazing lantern in a dismal cavern. Cobwebs of religious doubt and stagnation were swept aside as he moved toward the bed where August lay writhing in agony. He proclaimed liberty to the downtrodden, healing to the sick, and salvation to the poor needy sinner. He announced that the Holy Spirit had been sent for a demonstration of the power of God that could make all things new. He took the sick man by the hand and commanded that he rise and be made whole in the name of Jesus. August felt a jolt of heaven’s power surge through his body. He leapt from his sickbed and stood trembling like a criminal around whom the walls of a prison had just fallen. He looked at his arms and legs as if iron chains had just been struck from them. He felt his once swollen and inflamed joints, and they were renewed to a supple and youthful state. His wife, Marie, who had been at his bedside for years, began to weep. He began to walk, then to run, then to leap, then to shout. He grabbed his wife and embraced her with tears running freely down his face. A moment ago, he had been unable to endure the slightest touch on his skin. Now, he was a man set free of pain. He was free indeed.
I, Reinhard Bonnke, was born 18 years later. My father Hermann Bonnke had become a pastor. The fire of the Holy Spirit had transferred to him and later to me. God called me to be an Evangelist in Africa. I saw almost 80 million souls receive Jesus as their Savior. May the same holy flame jump into your heart and get you going for God; and may many a “lawnmower” be exchanged for a “combine harvester” in the ripe harvest fields of souls. Blessed?

Tunaweza kubembelezana sasa tungali hai usitende dhambi, lakini hatuwezi kubembeleza ukifa usiende kuzimu ! Kugeuka kutokwenda kuzimu kunafanyika ungali hai!

Heri wafu wafao katika Bwana tangu sasa. Naam, asema Roho, wapate kupumzika baada ya taabu zao; Kwa kuwa matendo yao yafuatana nao.

Nimekumbusha tu na Hii ndiyo Kweli.

Not a single word from Abel is recorded in Scripture. Cain murders him, and Cain has something to say. But the victim of violence? the recipient of hate? the righteous one? Not a syllable.

Cain has words, Abel none.

But Abel does speak in a different language. He utters crimson eloquence, red rhetoric so profound his speech pierces heaven's veil to lodge in the ears of God.

How so? The Lord says, "The voice of your brother's blood is crying to me from the ground" (Gen. 4:10).

You see what's happening?

1. Blood has a voice.
2. Blood cries out to God.
3. Blood is heard by heaven.

Far, far later, the author of Hebrews wrote about another crimson eloquence, about more red rhetoric. He says that the blood of Jesus "speaks better than the blood of Abel" (12:24).

Whatever Abel's blood said to God, Christ's blood said it better.

The voice of Jesus's blood, crying out from the ground beneath the cross, piercing the heavens, lodging in the ears of God, speaks one and only one message: "Father, forgive them."

That eloquent blood pronounces the absolution of the world, you included.

Believe it. It is for you.

There are four principles we need to maintain: First, read the Word of God. Second, consume the Word of God until it consumes you. Third believe the Word of God. Fourth, act on the Word.

Revivalists such as John Wesley, George Whitefield, Charles Finney, and William and Catherine Booth transformed communities and nations by preaching the Gospel. These revivalists righted social ills through grassroots efforts and door-to-door ministry. Where they saw needs, they reached out to meet them, offering a hand to help people get back on their feet and the power of the Gospel to change their lives and establish their livelihoods. They changed the spiritual climate of the communities they touched by seeking God’s power in prayer, and by preaching Jesus and the power of what He accomplished on the cross. When Jesus became the topic of conversation in these communities, it mattered little what the law of the land said—morality was determined by people who were seeking to please God, not follow legislative measures.
In contrast to this, twentieth-century conversion became more a matter of one answering an altar call than one laboring in prayer until sensing confirmation in one’s heart of having been saved by Christ. “Coming forward” replaced Finney’s “anxious benches.” Knowledge of one’s salvation came from a pat on the back from a prayer worker instead of a personal conviction or revelation that had been pursued hotly. If Christianity today seems impotent, perhaps it is because we have lost what the early revivalists knew—that salvation must be worked out “with fear and trembling” (Philippians 2:12).
We need a return to the great revelation that God’s Generals knew so well —that Jesus is the only way to remedy social ills and permanently change people’s lives. When Jesus is presented in all of His mercy and love, people change, and their lifestyles are transformed. Wrongs are righted, and permanently so, only when Jesus and His power are truly revealed.
