Statement Regarding a High level Visit to Prof Gemima, Widow of the late Dr Paul Kawanga Ssemogerere

**Rubaga, Uganda** – In a heartfelt and strategic move, a high-level delegation of leaders from **DP at Heart 💚🤍** paid a consultative and solidarity visit to Dr. Germina Ssemwogerere, the widow of the late Democratic Party (DP) President Paul Kawanga Ssemwogerere, at the family residence in Rubaga.

The visit formed part of DP at Heart’s ongoing series of engagements aimed at charting a new path for the historic Democratic Party. The delegation used the opportunity to hold deep consultations with the widow on how best to **reclaim, rebuild, and restore** the DP to its former glory. The group, from it's meagre resources shared some Easter goodies with her at a time she feels isolated and abandoned especially on DP matters. Leaders also sought wisdom and counsel from the elders, drawing on their rich experience to re-energise the party and strengthen its structures ahead of future political engagements.

Speaking during the visit, members of the delegation emphasised that consulting veterans and family members of founding leaders remains central to DP at Heart’s vision. “We are not only here to pay our respects, but to listen, learn, and draw strength from those who have carried the party’s legacy through thick and thin,” a delegation member noted.

Beyond the political consultations, the team took time to personally check on Dr. Germina’s well-being following two major personal tragedies. The delegation inquired about her health and recovery after the devastating fire that recently gutted the family’s matrimonial home in Rubaga. They also offered condolences and support in the wake of the passing of her husband, the long-serving DP President Paul Kawanga Ssemwogerere.

Dr. Germina Ssemwogerere expressed gratitude for the visit, describing it as both comforting and encouraging. She appreciated the delegation’s commitment to preserving the values her late husband stood for and pledged continued support for initiatives aimed at revitalising the Democratic Party.

The engagement underscores DP at Heart’s dual focus: honouring the party’s founding pillars while actively working to reposition the DP as a formidable force in Uganda’s political landscape. The group has vowed to sustain such visits and consultations as it mobilises stakeholders for the crucial task of rebuilding the party from the grassroots.

**DP at Heart 💚🤍** remains focused on unity, renewal, and restoration — values that the late Paul Kawanga Ssemwogerere championed throughout his distinguished political career.
