As we enthusiastically continue to celebrate International Women's Day and honor the rights of women around the globe, it is imperative that we, as the opposition, shift our focus toward actively promoting the inclusion of more women in political roles rather than engaging in conflicts that serve only to demoralize and undermine their contributions and aspirations. Within the context of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party, where I have devoted the past seven years of my life and career, it is disheartening to witness the mental anguish many women, myself included, endure at the hands of the party’s Secretary General, David Lewis Rubongoya. Unfortunately, this has culminated in many of us being unjustly expelled from the party without any clear rationale or explanation, which is a deeply troubling situation. In light of these challenges, I wish to take this moment to pay tribute to several remarkable women who bravely fought for women's rights against overwhelming odds, despite the oppressive environments that exist in various political spheres, including my own. Among them are Sojourner Truth, an inspiring African American abolitionist and women's rights activist, as well as Malala Yousafzai, the courageous young advocate for girls' education from Pakistan, among countless others who have made significant contributions to the cause. It is crucial to recognize that injustice, in any form, should be fought fervently across all fronts, and I pledge to stand resolute in my commitment to be a powerful voice for justice and integrity, tirelessly advocating for the truth and the empowerment of all women.

"My fellow people of Jinja City,

I am humbled, I am grateful, and I am proud to stand before you today, asking for your support in this election. As we gather on the doorsteps of our great city, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for the love, the enthusiasm, and the trust you've shown in me, this love is a sign of real love, I can't take it for granted.

Now, as we look to the future, I believe that Jinja City deserves more of the same - leadership that listens, that delivers, and that puts people first. That's why I'm asking for your vote on January 15, 2026. My symbol is the Clock 🕰️ - a reminder that time is ticking, and we must keep moving forward.

Fellow citizens of Jinja City,

We stand here today at a moment of great possibility. A moment where we can choose to move forward, or stay stuck in the past. We can choose to focus on what's been done, or what we can do together.

You know, I've walked your streets, met your families, and heard your stories. I know the struggles you've faced, the dreams you hold dear. And I know we can achieve them, together.

We're not just a collection of individuals; we're a community bound by a shared vision. A vision of a Jinja City where every child has access to quality education, where healthcare is a right, not a privilege. Where our youth have opportunities to thrive, and our elders are respected.

We've made progress, yes. We've seen health camps bring specialists to our doorstep, bursaries reach our talented students, and our local talent shine. But we know there's more to be done.

The four years I've been in Parliament haven't been a bed of roses, but it's a process as we strive to achieve our goals. We've faced challenges, but we've worked tirelessly to bring results to Jinja City.

And that's why I believe Jinja deserves a leader like me, Hon Manjeri Kyebakutika, running as an independent candidate with the clock symbol. A leader who's committed to serving, who's delivered results, and who'll continue to put our city first.

So I ask you: will we settle for the status quo, or will we strive for something more? Will we let divisions tear us apart, or will we unite for a common purpose?

Jinja City, we are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change we seek. Let's build a future where every voice is heard, every person is valued, and our city prospers.

On January 15th, look for the clock symbol on the ballot, and let's cast our votes for a brighter tomorrow. Let's vote for unity, for progress, for Hon Manjeri Kyebakutika as your Woman MP.

Yes, we can. Yes, we will.
