It is a depository for library materials published in Uganda by Ugandans, on Uganda.
2. It allocates International Standard Book Numbers (ISBNs) and International Standard Serial Numbers (ISBNs) to Publishers in Uganda.
3. It inspects and ensures that Public Libraries conform to National Policies, Guidelines, Regulations and Standards.
4. It compiles and publishes the National Bibliography of books published in Uganda.
