The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was established by an Act of Parliament; The Uganda National Authority Act, No. 15 of 2006.
UNRA became operational on 1st July 2008. The mandate of UNRA is to develop and maintain the national roads network, advise Government on general roads policy and contribute to addressing of transport concerns, among others. Brief background

🏳️Karuma Bridge
Our teams successfully completed asphalt laying on the bridge deck and approach roads, signaling the near completion of repair works.
The State Minister for Works, Hon. Musa Ecweru, is expected on site this Friday, December 20th and will outline essential guidelines to travellers before opening the bridge to traffic. We’ll keep you updated.

🎉 Exciting Updates on Lake Kyoga!⛴️
Thrilled to announce that after the successful completion of all physical works, MV BKK 1&2 have successfully completed sea trials! ✅
🌊Sea trails are a vessel’s ultimate test on open waters after months of construction! It’s where the ferry proves its strength, stability and readiness to conquer the waves!
On commissioning, these magnificent vessels will transform water connectivity on Lake Kyoga across the different routes;
⛴️ MV BKK 1— Connecting Bukungu to Kagwara, serving the vibrant communities of Serere and Soroti.
⛴️ MV BKK 2— Linking Bukungu to Akampala, connecting to Kaberamaido.
Together, these ferries will create seamless connections across over 8 districts in the Eastern region, bridging Busoga to Teso, Kaberamaido, and the Lango sub-region.
The Government of Uganda through UNRA partnered with M/S Songoro Marine Transport Limited (SMT) to bring this vision to life!

Over the years, Uganda’s road network has seen significant improvement, driven by increased funding and pivotal reforms in the road sector since the 1990s.
It's been rewarding to see significant progress of works on the different projects connecting Communities and facilitating Growth in other sectors of the economy.
🕰️Currently, we’re upgrading road construction projects covering a total distance of 1,299.9 Kms across Uganda.

⛴️ : Bukungu—Kaberamaido—Kagwara (BKK) ferries are equipped with low-emission engines, which help reduce potential environmental impact on Lake Kyoga.
The vessels adhere to international safety and environmental standards, ensuring that as we improve connectivity, we're safeguarding the ecosystem that supports us.
On completion, expected before the end of this year, the ferries will revitalize and connect the areas of Bukungu, Kaberamaido, and Kagwara (Serere District) in Eastern Uganda, turning them into thriving economic hubs. We can't wait...!

DAY 3: Hon. Musa Ecweru today inspected the Muyembe-Nakapiripirit and Moroto- Lokitanyala road projects.
He was impressed with the progress of both projects, he urges local leaders to support the ongoing works and thanked UNRA for effective supervision.

DAY 2: Hon. Musa Ecweru, State Minister for Works, is inspecting the Tororo-Mbale-Soroti-Dokolo-Lira-Kamdin (340km) road today, accompanied by Infrastructure Committee members, district leaders, and the project team. He's commending Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) on the progress made.
The 340km road project will boost connectivity and economic growth in the area when completed.
