Buganda maintains an edge above Busoga in Fish farming, with 1,270 Aquaculture farms, compared to 1,038 farms in Busoga.

Buganda farms are mainly in Mukono, Buikwe, Luwero and Wakiso.

Busoga farms are mainly in Jinja city, Bugiri and Kamuli districts.

Ankole sub region more than doubles Kigezi, when it comes to Aquaculture farming.

Ankole is recorded to have 973 farms, with a major concentration in Bushenyi, and least farms in Buhweju.

Kigezi has 461 farms with most farms in Kanungu and the least in Kisoro district.

The Uganda Aquaculture Census (UAC) Report 2025 was officially launched by Hon. Amos Lugoloobi, Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Economic Development (Planning), alongside Dr. Chris N. Mukiza, UBOS_ED and other dignitaries.

The report provides insights into the structure of the aquaculture sector in Uganda, including farming methods, distribution patterns, stock, production, and extension services among other variables. The data generated in the report will support planning in the Aquaculture sub-sector as the country progresses towards ensuring food security, income generation, and value addition for agricultural products.

The National Human Resource Survey 2023/24 report has formally been launched today at Statistics House, by Hon. Stephen Mukitale, Deputy Chairperson of the Executive Board of the National Planning Authority and MP Buliisa County.

He empharsized the need to empower the Private sector businesses and working environment, to enable them create more jobs, since Government jobs are limited.

At the primary school level, 58.0% of schools are government primary schools, while 44.9% are private primary schools.

For secondary education, 44.9% of sub-counties in Uganda had at least one government-founded secondary school, while 39.3% had at least one private-founded secondary school.

The Labour Market Survey report reveals a 12.2% National level unemployment in Uganda. Male unemployment stands at 10.8% while that of Females stands at 13.9%.

Urban unemployment stands at 12.8% (Males=11.1%, Females=14.9%) while that of the Rural areas is at 11.8% (Males=10.6%, Females=13.2%).
The report further shows that shows that 57.6% of people aged 14-64 years fall within the working age population. Of these, 58.8% are Males while 56.2% are Females. The Employment-to-Population Ratio (15 years and above) was highest in Bunyoro sub region and lowest in Bukedi.

The proportion of sub-counties with at least one HC III, regardless of the founding body, was highest in Kampala Capital City (100.0%) and lowest in Karamoja (42.5%).

The recently released Community Module report, drawn from the National Population and Housing Census 2024, shows that Kampala has the highest percentage of Money lenders at 78%, and they are lowest in Karamoja at 7.0%. 69.6% of parishes in Uganda access mobile money services.
