Uganda Development Corporation (UDC), on behalf of the Government of Uganda will fund half of US$ 150 million for the setting up of a cement and marble factory in Moroto, Karamoja region.
This commitment was made by the Executive Director of UDC, Dr. Patrick Birungi while touring the exploration and drilling activities in Loyoro sub-county in Kaabong District on Thursday 28th October 2021.
Dr. Birungi says an assessment by officials from the Department of Geology at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development shows that one of the holes drilled so far can sustain an exploration phase for over 20 years.
UDC's partners Saboo Engineering and Savannah Group say they are ready for the project now that Marble has been confirmed to be in plenty in the region.

Hon. Gume Fredrick Ngobi, Minister of State in Charge of Cooperatives presided over the commissioning of a new mango line worth UGX 6.5 billion at Teso Fruit Factory in Soroti district on 29th October 2021.
The commissioning was also witnessed by the Executive Director of UDC, Dr. Patrick Birungi who mentioned that the new mango line was a fulfillment of a pledge made earlier by the President to expand the factory. He added that the new line will increase the production from the current 40 tons to 120 tons of mangoes on a daily basis. Dr. Birungi also indicated that plans are underway to expand the orange line as well.

UDC was part of the MDAs (Ministries Departments & Agencies) that facilitated the verification of the country's sugar sector by a delegation from Kenya (12th to 17th April 2021). Factories visited included; atiak, Kinyara, kyenjojo sugar, hoima sugar, Bwendero sugar, mayuge among others.

The Factory was commissioned by H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on 22nd October 2020
