As part of UETCL’s commitment to upholding Safety as one of its core values, the CEO, Eng. Richard Matsiko, handed over Certificates of Excellence to selected drivers upon their successful completion of the 4th Annual Professional Drivers Conference 2025.
The training focused on defensive driving and road safety, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the road responsibly while safeguarding lives, assets and the communities we serve.
Congratulating the participants, Eng. Matsiko noted that such trainings are essential in enhancing vigilance, professionalism and responsibility on the road.

Our teams are making major strides reconductoring 132kV transmission lines around Kampala, a key component of the Kampala Metropolitan System Improvement Project.
Works on the 132kV Kampala North – Lugogo transmission line are nearing completion. This critical upgrade will strengthen and improve power transmission within the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area, supporting a more reliable electricity network for homes, businesses and industries.

Today, UETCL convened a stakeholder engagement with representatives from Uganda Manufacturers Association, the Office of the President, security agencies, manufacturers, UEDCL, and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development to address the growing challenge of vandalism of national electricity infrastructure.
The meeting focused on strengthening partnerships with manufacturers to prevent the purchase and circulation of vandalized electricity materials and encourage the reporting of suspicious metal deliveries to UETCL and relevant authorities.

As part of the May Internal Audit Awareness Month activities, UETCL’s Internal Audit Department today hosted an engaging Internal Audit Awareness Workshop.
The workshop brought together staff for insightful discussions and presentations on fraud risk management, creating a learning organization, and the evolving role of Internal Audit as a strategic partner and trusted advisor.
The session highlighted the importance of accountability, continuous learning, and strong governance in strengthening institutional performance and safeguarding organizational value.

Day 2 of the Kampala Metropolitan System Improvement Project site visit saw UETCL host the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu, as she assessed progress at the Namungoona, Mutundwe, and Buloba substations.
The visit concluded at the Buloba Substation, successfully energized on 19 April 2026, a key milestone in strengthening power reliability across the Kampala Metropolitan Area.
In her remarks, the Minister noted that the project serves one of Uganda’s most densely populated regions and reaffirmed Government’s commitment to strategic energy infrastructure that supports reliable electricity supply, industrial growth, and national development.
She also commended the project teams for the steady progress achieved so far and called upon Ugandans to protect national transmission infrastructure by reporting vandalism, emphasizing that reliable electricity is a shared national responsibility.
