Sickle cells is an inherited change in the structure of red blood cells in which the red blood cells through mutation are distorted into a 'sickle shape'

Like any other organization, SSMF's activities were greatly affected by the pandemic. Our members could not access the care that was hitherto extended to them. We're all prayers that in one way or another we shall pick it up from some point. God bless all those giving a hand.

It's a miserable thing hearing the ordeal of a mother who has lost 1,2,3...children to the anaemia and still counting.
Yesterday, I took to a counseling session with a 50 year old mother in Katwe A mayuge district who is currently between home and hospital with her only surviving daughter. May God restore them and plant new cells in this toddlers marrows.

I can't hold back my joy hearing that the proceeds of the 2019 Kabaka run will be dedicated towards Sickle Cell patients. I would like to appeal to all of us to be part of this. Even if you can't run, you can just make that payment so someone is helped.

Once my late big sister worked with the sickle cell unit in mulago hospital and having frequent visits to her helped me feel the passion with which she handled both the patients and the mothers most of whom had been abandoned by their spouses. SSMF is here to bridge such gaps, let's join hands for this cause.

The myth of sickle cell patients not growing to celebrate their 18th birthday has been demystified by eloquent ladies and gentlemen on board. This is through the sensitization drives and one on one counselling.
