Abernathy FFA is proud to announce a generous $2,000 donation from AgTexas Farm Credit Services in support of our local agricultural education program and student leaders.

These funds will directly sponsor our six national qualifiers as they head to Indianapolis next week to compete in the prestigious National Agriscience Fair during the National FFA Convention. Qualifying for the national competition is a remarkable achievement that reflects months of research, hands-on application, and dedication from our students.

Congratulations to all six qualifying students, and a sincere thank you to AgTexas Farm Credit Services for their continued commitment to our students and the future of agriculture!

📣 MORE PAY, FREE LUNCH, AND THE BEST KIDS AROUND! WE WANT YOU AT ABERNATHY ISD!📣

At last night's board meeting, the Abernathy ISD Board of Trustees approved an INCREASE in substitute teacher pay!

Our NEW Substitute Pay Rates:
Non-Degreed Substitute: $80/day
Degreed Substitute: $100/day
Degreed/Certified Teacher Substitute: $110/day

Every substitute teacher can now enjoy a FREE meal in our school cafeteria each day they work! And if you haven't experienced our incredible salad bar or the great entrées our cafeteria staff prepares, you're missing out!

But there's a bigger reason behind this increase.

We want MORE great people in our classrooms! We want those who already substitute for us to know how much we appreciate them, and we hope this encourages them to spend even more days with our students.

Just as importantly, we want our teachers to know that WE CARE ABOUT THEM, TOO! Our teachers pour their hearts into our kids every single day. When they need to take a day off, whether it's for their family, an appointment, or simply because life happens, we want them to feel confident that someone great is there to take care of their students.

That's where YOU come in!

South Plains Association of Governments is providing a Hazard Mitigation Plan Kickoff Meeting on Tuesday October 13, 2026 at 1:30 PM in the Fair Theater. This is a public meeting and they are encouraging everyone interested to attend.

🚨 JUST A REMINDER! 🚨

BIKES, SCOOTERS, AND SIMILAR EQUIPMENT ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE TURF, TRACK, OR PRACTICE FIELDS AROUND ANTELOPE STADIUM.

We have been receiving reports of students riding bikes and scooters on the track, turf, and practice fields.

Please help us monitor and prevent this from happening.

Our athletic facilities are used by many of our students and athletes, and we want to keep them looking great and in the best possible condition!

October is National Principal Appreciation Month! At Abernathy ISD, our principals show us that leadership goes far beyond fancy desks and big-picture decisions. Sometimes it means walking side by side with students, lending a helping hand, and stepping in getting your feet a little wet.

From celebrating accomplishments to helping students through tough moments, our principals lead with heart. Thank you for showing up, building relationships, and making our campuses places where students feel supported and valued. We appreciate all you do for our Antelopes!

🏆 STATE FINALIST! 🏆

We are incredibly proud to share that Abernathy High School Principal Mr. Tate Albright has been named one of just three finalists in the entire state of Texas for the TASSP High School Principal of the Year!

Last year, Mr. Albright was named the Region 17 TASSP High School Principal of the Year, qualifying him for consideration at the state level. From an outstanding group of school leaders across Texas, he has now been selected as one of the final three.

Mr. Albright will travel to Austin on October 17–18 to interview as part of the final selection process.

Those of us in Abernathy see every day the commitment, leadership, and heart Mr. Albright brings to our students, staff, and community. We are proud of all he does for Abernathy ISD, and it is especially meaningful to see his efforts recognized by educational leaders from across the state.

Congratulations, Mr. Albright! We are proud to have you leading the Lopes!
