Our 1st graders have been given a challenge from our friends at KRBC News as they go through their weather unit!☀️🧢

They will use the engineering design process to create their own sun hats! During the kick off event they shared ideas & worked with partners to put the events of a story in order.

We can’t wait to hear all about their visit to the news station soon!

Our first graders wrapped up their human body unit with a fun engineering challenge: designing face shields to help protect against germs! 🛠️

After learning about how face shields protect real-life healthcare workers, our Engineers jumped right into action to plan, design, and build their very own prototypes!
After building, they visited other first grade classrooms to gather ideas, take notes on how to improve their builds, and put their upgraded designs to the ultimate test: protection from a sneeze!

What a great way to practice the engineering design process and learn from one another! 🌟
