🚑 Two Ambulances Assure Our Residents The Bare Minimum 🚑
In the 1970’s, the Abington Fire Department responded to emergencies with 6 members per shift with 1 ambulance and a handful of trained EMTs. The calls for service ranged in the 1,000s annually.
Today, your Fire Department responds to over 4,000 emergency calls annually with the same staffing of 6 members per shift, now with 2 ambulances staffed at the Paramedic level, which is a requirement for our members. We operate as efficiently as possible to answer each call for service with pride and compassion to our customers on a daily basis. Our calls for service are increasing annually and it shows every day how vitally important our 2 ambulances are.
🔥 On a side note, the average annual revenue brought in through payment from insurance reimbursements is over $1.4 million each year while running these 2 ambulances. These funds go directly to the Town of Abington's General Fund
