The winter cold is no match for library fun! This winter, the PGCMLS community is invited to participate in the Wizards Winter Reading Challenge. ❄️

All you have to do is log your activity — such as reading, staying active, participating in library programs, and more — for a chance to win a variety of prizes, including Washington Wizards tickets and a Wizards prize pack.

From December 15, 2025 through March 14, 2026, PGCMLS customers of all ages can sign up and earn badges toward awesome prizes!

Plus, Elementary and middle school students who register will receive a meal bookmark for a free three-piece chicken tender meal at any Popeyes in Prince George’s County. Talk to your local branch library staff to learn more or for help registering.

Prince George’s County is fortunate to have a diverse and active community. The Prince George’s County Memorial Library System’s doors are open to everyone, and we are dedicated to creating and maintaining an environment that respects and is inclusive of all people. PGCMLS takes pride in serving this community by offering a wide range of relevant programs, services, resources, and events, in addition to providing free access to thousands of print and digital collection materials. The role of public libraries is defined by this idea of access—access to information, primarily, and access to our library spaces, programs, and services.

PGCMLS branches will be open with limited services on Monday, September 30, as the Sailor Network, which supplies internet to PGCMLS and other governments and schools across the state, is down due to a fire in Baltimore. Customers should anticipate limited to no internet access in our buildings, but should still be able to check out materials with their library cards. Additionally, customers trying to access online resources on their devices may also experience interrupted service. Thank you in advance for your patience.
