For Middlesex and Worcester district residents, especially those who live along the Route 2 Corridor west of Concord, I urge you to attend the MassDOT hearing on proposed improvements to the Concord Rotary on Wednesday night, June 24th, 2026 at 6 pm at the Concord Middle School Auditorium! You can scan the QR code below, and last weekβs Acton Exchange wrote a great story on the four options, funding challenges, and the need for Concord town officials to BRING IT HOME by indicating public support!
About 16 years ago, I had worked to secure funding in the TIP to fix the rotary by building an overpass, but consensus could not be reached. So, the $$ went to another project π‘. Acton Exchange story below:

Here is BCDC's statement regarding todayβs Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decision rejecting the statewide rent control ballot question:
βFor years, residents across Brookline and Massachusetts have made clear that housing affordability is one of our most urgent challenges. Every month, too many people in our Town and across the Commonwealth have to choose between paying their rent, putting food on the table, or leaving the communities they call home.
BCDC is disappointed that todayβs Supreme Judicial Court ruling means voters will not have the opportunity to weigh in on this critical issue this November. But todayβs decision does not lessen the urgency of addressing the housing crisis, it only underscores it.
We urge the Legislature to build on the bipartisan momentum around a legislative compromise that would give communities additional tools to address rising rents while continuing to support housing production. We also renew our call to leaders at the State House, in city and town halls, and across the Commonwealth to bring renewed creativity, urgency, and commitment to affordable housing construction and preservation. Massachusetts cannot afford to let today's procedural setback become an excuse for inaction.
The housing crisis demands action now. Families cannot wait, and neither should we.β

With President Trump continuing to attack fair housing laws and funding for non-profits that advocate to ensure property owners follow fair housing non-discrimination laws (https://nationalfairhousing.org/trump-and-doge-want-to-zero-out-critical-fair-housing-funding-in-the-fy-26-budget/), I am proud to continue to be the Senate lead on an earmark for $200,000 for the Mass Fair Housing Center (MFHC) in Springfield.
MFHC advocate for people across Massachusetts, including for people with disabilities whose landlords do not provide an accommodation, immigrants discriminated against for housing, and landlords who illegally do not accept vouchers. It is one thing to have fair housing laws - itβs another to properly enforce them. Thank you Mass Fair Housing Center for your tireless work!

HLC has launched the MBTA Communities District Atlas, a new data tool that makes it easier to see where communities have zoned for multifamily housing across Massachusetts.
The Atlas gives planners, researchers, journalists, developers and residents a comprehensive look at approved 3A zoning: every district, every subdistrict, every parcel, complete with dimensional requirements, current conditions, and estimated multifamily unit capacity.
It is one more way HLC is making implementation more transparent and easier to understand. To date, 165 of the 177 MBTA Communities have adopted multifamily zoning, representing 93% of communities covered by the law.
Explore the Atlas at mass.gov/3Adistricts.
