On October 6, 2026, Lt. Chris Ayers and Detective Steve Williams, Task Force Officers with District Attorney Erik Johnson’s Drug Task Force, visited Butner High School in Cromwell, Oklahoma, to provide students and faculty with important information about fentanyl, its dangers, and the devastating impact this dangerous drug can have on individuals, families, and communities.

Education and prevention are powerful tools in the fight against dangerous drugs. Providing students, faculty, and surrounding school districts with the knowledge they need to recognize the dangers of fentanyl is an important part of District Attorney Erik Johnson’s commitment to keeping our children and communities safe.

We appreciate the opportunity to work with our schools and community partners to help educate our youth and prevent the devastating consequences of fentanyl and other dangerous drugs.

Together, we can keep our kids safe.

Felony Charges Filed Against Former Holdenville Teacher Cody Richison

HUGHES, OKLAHOMA — District Attorney Erik Johnson announced that former Holdenville FFA teacher, Cody Richison, 35, has been charged with two felony counts stemming from separate incidents of indecent exposure in 2024.

Each count is a Class B4 felony and is punishable by up to 10 years of imprisonment, a fine of up to $20,000, or both, upon conviction.

The alleged incidents occurred approximately two months apart and involved the defendant allegedly exposing himself on school property.

“Schools should be places where students can learn and teachers and staff can do their jobs in an environment that is safe and appropriate,” said District Attorney Erik Johnson. “Our office takes allegations of criminal conduct occurring on school campuses seriously and will continue to work with law enforcement and school officials to hold individuals accountable when the evidence supports prosecution.”

District Attorney Johnson emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing and that the District Attorney’s Office will continue to follow the evidence. Should additional evidence be uncovered, further criminal charges may be filed.

Holdenville Superintendent, Danielle Patterson said, “Our highest priority is always the safety and well-being of our students and staff. We appreciate the work of law enforcement and the district attorney’s Office in pursuing this matter, and we will continue to cooperate fully with their investigation as needed. We are also grateful to have been informed that the alleged incidents underlying the pending charges occurred outside of school hours and did not occur in the presence of any other individuals, including students. We will respect the criminal justice process and allow the appropriate authorities to address these allegations through that process.”

The charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The District 22 District Attorney’s Office appreciates the cooperation of the Holdenville Police Department and Holdenville Public Schools throughout the investigation and prosecution of this matter.
