Chief Langlois and The Addis Police Department would like to extend a big THANK YOU to Acadian Ambulance Service for hosting a wonderful Touch a Truck event for our surrounding community!

Events like this give our children and families a great opportunity to get an up-close look at emergency vehicles, meet local first responders, and learn more about the people and equipment that help keep our communities safe.

We truly appreciate Acadian Ambulance Service for bringing everyone together and allowing us to be a part of such a fun, family-friendly event.

Thank you to everyone who came out, stopped by to say hello, and spent some time with us! We always enjoy opportunities to connect with the communities we serve.

The Addis Police Department is currently investigating the discovery of a deceased individual, that was located in a secluded area behind the levee, within our jurisdiction.

At this time, the circumstances surrounding the death appear to be consistent with a possible self-inflicted incident. However, the investigation remains ongoing, and no official determination regarding the cause or manner of death will be made until the appropriate investigation has been completed by law enforcement and the Coroner’s Office.

Out of respect for the deceased and their family, no identifying information will be released at this time.

We ask the public to respect the privacy of the family and to avoid speculation or sharing unconfirmed information while the investigation is ongoing.

Additional information will be released if and when appropriate.

𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐌 𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐑𝐓:

The West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office has been notified of a scam involving an individual claiming to be “Sgt. Willis” with the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The scammer is contacting residents and falsely claiming they have missed a Federal Grand Jury subpoena and have an outstanding warrant. The caller then demands immediate payment to avoid arrest.

The caller may use several tactics to make the scam appear legitimate, including:

• Calling from a 225 area code number.
• Leaving voicemails stating “Urgent Legal Matter” and requesting a return call.
• Attempting to verify your home address or other personal information.
• Claiming there are issues involving your mail or that something is wrong with mail you have received.
• Using an aggressive or intimidating tone to create a sense of urgency and fear.

Providing some of your personal information does not mean the caller is legitimate. Scammers may already have access to publicly available information and use it to make their story sound convincing.

Please remember: The West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office will NEVER:

• Call you demanding money or immediate payment over the phone.
• Threaten immediate arrest because you did not make a payment.
• Ask you to provide financial information or send money to resolve a warrant or subpoena.

If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately. Do not provide personal or financial information, and do not send money.

If you are unsure whether a call involving the Sheriff’s Office is legitimate, contact us directly at 225-343-9234 to verify the information.

A simple phone call could save you time, money, and unnecessary hassle.

Please share this information with your family and friends to help spread awareness and prevent others from becoming victims of this scam.
