Being “salty” is supposed to mean you’d been around, seen some s**t, learned some lessons, and had something worth passing down.

It was never supposed to mean s**tting on the new guy, hating every new idea, complaining all shift, and making everyone around you miserable.

Experience should make the firehouse better. Not make everyone wish you’d retire.

That part has to walk through the door with them.

“Risk a lot to save a lot” was never meant to excuse preventable risk.

This job already comes with enough things we can’t control. The preparedness of the person beside you shouldn’t be one of them.

Nobody should have to compensate for what we were too afraid to correct.
