ππ» HALLOWEEN COSTUME SAFETY TIPS! π»π
The Addison Fire Protection District #1 wants everyone to have a SAFE, FUN, and SPOOKTACULAR Halloween! π§‘π€
Before your little ghosts, goblins, superheroes, and princesses head out for trick-or-treating, take a few minutes to make sure their costumes are safe!
π CHOOSE FIRE-RESISTANT COSTUMES!
Look for costumes, wigs, and accessories labeled "flame-resistant." Keep costumes away from candles, fire pits, and other open flames.
π» BE SEEN, STAY SAFE!
Choose bright-colored costumes or add reflective tape to costumes and treat bags. Carry glow sticks or flashlights to help drivers see trick-or-treaters.
π§ MAKE SURE COSTUMES FIT!
Avoid oversized costumes, long capes, or dragging fabric that could cause trips and falls. Make sure shoes fit properly.
π¦Έ MASKS VS. MAKEUP!
Consider using non-toxic face paint instead of masks that may obstruct vision. If wearing a mask, make sure your child can see and breathe easily.
π¬ SAFE COSTUME ACCESSORIES!
Swords, wands, and other costume accessories should be soft, flexible, and free of sharp edges.
π WATCH OUT FOR TRAFFIC!
Use sidewalks and crosswalks, look both ways before crossing streets, and have a responsible adult accompany younger children.
π―οΈ SKIP THE OPEN FLAMES!
Use battery-operated candles or LED lights in jack-o'-lanterns and Halloween decorations to reduce fire hazards.
π¨ A LITTLE PREPARATION CAN PREVENT A HALLOWEEN EMERGENCY!
From all of us at Addison Fire Protection District #1, have a safe and Happy Halloween! ππ
Stay Visible. Stay Safe. Have Fun!
