Today is World Polio Day, a day Rotarians commemorate the birth of Jonas Salk, who led the first team to develop a vaccine against polio. Albert Sabin established the Global Polio Eradication Initiative in 1988 and, since then, GPEI as reduced polio worldwide by 99%. But the work is not over. The end of polio is in sight but resources are still needed. Today, Rotarians redouble their efforts to eradicate this dreadful disease.
Adel Rotarians made contributions to Polio Plus through a fun project, a Football Survivors Pool. The winner gets bragging rights and Polio Plus receives more resources. You, too, can help by making your own contribution to Polio Plus.
