Emergency Vehicle Safety Reminder

We would also like to remind the public: Please do not block emergency vehicles or follow emergency vehicles to emergency scenes. Emergency personnel need clear and safe access to respond and operate effectively. Following emergency vehicles can create additional hazards and interfere with emergency operations.

We appreciate the assistance and cooperation of:

* Stoddard County EMS
* Missouri State Highway Patrol
* Stoddard County Sheriff’s Office

Please help keep our first responders and the public safe by giving emergency vehicles and emergency scenes plenty of room.

Training Topic: Scene Size-Up

Tonight the Advance Fire Department refreshed their scene size-up skills through a classroom lecture followed by virtual scene size-up training.

This training helps firefighters quickly identify hazards, evaluate conditions, determine needed resources, and develop an effective incident action plan before operations begin.

Continued training helps ensure our firefighters remain prepared to make safe and effective decisions on every emergency scene.

Incident Report 🚒

The Advance Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire after a caller reported seeing smoke and flames coming from underneath a residence.

Due to the extreme heat advisory. Bell City Fire Department and Bloomfield Fire Department were requested for mutual aid.

The first arriving command staff member found a single-story residential home with smoke showing from the Bravo and Delta sides of the structure.

Engine 1 arrived on scene, established a water supply from a nearby hydrant, and crews immediately began fire suppression operations. Once the fire was brought under control and it was determined that adequate personnel and resources were on scene, Bloomfield Fire Department was canceled prior to arrival.

Following an investigation, the fire was determined to have been caused by an electrical malfunction.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

The Advance Fire Department would like to thank Bell City Fire Department, Bloomfield Fire Department, Advance Police Department, and Stoddard County EMS for their assistance and support during this incident.
