🐎 A day exploring Aiken’s horses and history!

The Leadership Aiken County Class of 2027 spent October 13 learning more about the history, traditions and industries that have shaped our community.

From the Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame & Museum and Train Museum to Stable View, the Savannah River Site Museum and Aiken Historical Museum, participants gained a deeper appreciation for Aiken County’s rich heritage. The day wrapped up with a downtown Aiken trolley tour!

Thank you to our presenters, hosts and class coordinators for making Horses & History Day a great experience!

And a very special thank you to La Scuderia for providing the most delicious lunch!

👥 Meet Patrice Rhinehart-Jackson — Leadership Aiken County Class of 2022

Patrice is passionate about advocating for children and families, especially those with autism and special needs. As a school board member, she leads with a simple but powerful motto: “Your child is MY child!”

We’re honored that Leadership Aiken County and its Board of Directors were recognized with a Certificate of Appreciation at The Salvation Army’s Behind the Red Shield Appreciation Breakfast!

This recognition celebrates the partnership and efforts of our Class of 2026, who raised $33,000 toward a new bus for The Salvation Army’s youth and shelter programs as part of their class project.

We’re proud of our class, board and continued partnership with The Salvation Army to make a difference in Aiken County! 👏

👥 Meet Helga Ouzts — Leadership Aiken County Class of 2024

Through LAC, Helga gained a deeper understanding of Aiken County’s needs, challenges and opportunities while discovering new ways to serve. The experience broadened her perspective, built lasting connections and strengthened her commitment to being an engaged community leader.

On September 21–22, our 22 Leadership Aiken County participants kicked off their LAC journey with a two-day retreat at Gravatt Camp and Conference Center!

With training led by Jennifer Hart of Strategic People Operations, the retreat allowed the class to connect, learn more about one another, and begin building the skills they’ll carry throughout the program.

We’re excited to see what this class accomplishes in the months ahead!

Kim has served on the LAC Board since 2024 and is currently Co-Coordinator for the 2026–27 JLAC class. With 16 years in senior healthcare, she continues her commitment to serving others both professionally and throughout our community.
