OBSERVATORY INFORMATION!

We love seeing so many of you excited to visit the observatory and learn more about the night sky! With all of the recent interest, we wanted to share a few important reminders:

Programs are held on the 2nd and 3rd Friday of each month, weather permitting. Programs begin at dusk and require clear skies for viewing.

Reservations are required. Please RSVP directly with Mr. David Boyd at [email protected].

The observatory can only accommodate approximately 12 visitors at a time. We love the enthusiasm, but reservations help us keep from overwhelming Mr. Boyd or having too many visitors waiting at once.

Programs are open to both adults and children, with a special focus on introducing younger audiences to astronomy. Children’s groups must be accompanied by at least three adults.

We are thrilled that so many of you want to experience this unique program! Please be sure to email Mr. Boyd before making plans to attend so he can coordinate your visit.

Did you know there’s an observatory right inside Boyd Pond Park?

Boyd Observatory is a private research facility featuring a 12-foot fully rotating aluminum dome and a powerful 16-inch Newtonian telescope with full support electronics. The observatory can accommodate groups of up to 12 people.

FREE FRIDAY NIGHT PROGRAMS

Join us for a scheduled evening under the stars! Programs begin at dusk and are weather permitting. Clear skies are required for viewing.

Programs are now held the 2nd and 3rd Friday of each month at dusk.

Space is limited, so reservations are recommended.

🌳 Boyd Pond Park Update

Exciting improvements are underway at Boyd Pond Park!

🐕 New Dog Park: Fencing is currently being installed for the park’s new dog park. We anticipate announcing an official opening date in late October once construction and final preparations are complete.

🎭 New Amphitheatre: The Boyd Pond Park Amphitheatre is currently in the design phase, with site work expected to begin before the end of 2026. This future venue will provide a new space for concerts, performances, community gatherings, and special events.

🪧 New Park Signage: Updated signage is also on the way, including trail markers, general park rules, wildlife awareness signs, and dog park-specific signage. These additions will help visitors safely navigate the park and responsibly enjoy its many amenities.

🐟 Fish Stocking: Additional fish will soon be stocked as we continue developing a healthy, sustainable fish population and aquatic habitat. To protect the newly stocked fish and reduce the risk of immediate overfishing, exact stocking dates and timelines will not be publicly announced. Anglers are asked to practice CATCH AND RELEASE so the fish have time to acclimate, grow, reproduce, and become established.

🚻 Bathroom Update: Repairs to the electrical and water systems at the park are still ongoing. Restoration of both electrical lines and the well pump as well as a new transformer have significantly hindered the operations of the bathrooms and the rest of the park.
