After months of toiling, soiling, and hard work, the garden course has finally come to an end! With over 1600+ pounds of produce harvested, numerous residents and master gardeners regarded this as one of the best years for the program thus far!

We were grateful to welcome volunteers from the Mighty Vincent Project to Haven of Rest. They gave their time to serve alongside us, and we’re thankful for the care they brought to our community.

The project honors the memory of Vincent William Baran by bringing people together to help others. Its mission is to bring joy, compassion, and love into the world through service, and it is one we were glad to share in.

To everyone who volunteered with us: thank you for showing up and giving your time. We’re grateful to have been part of a day that remembers Vincent by caring for our neighbors.

Thank you to Clearview Social Services for coming to the mission to make beds for our guests! Clearview provides personalized support for people with developmental disabilities and their families in Stark County, helping individuals build skills, confidence, and independence. We’re grateful they shared their time and care with our guests! 😁

Through our Every Child, Every Chance initiative, the Good News Club has been meeting at David Hill CLC, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to spend time with the students! Through Bible lessons, conversation, and activities, the club offers children a welcoming place to learn about Jesus and connect with caring volunteers.

We had a great time at Open House 2026 last Thursday.

People from across the city got to hear and experience our Client Services and Distribution centers, the Men’s & Women’s Day Room, the Women’s Harvest Home & Men’s dormitories, as well as our chapel and Kitchen!

Thank you to everyone that came! If you were not able to make it, that is okay! We host comprehensive tours of the mission year round 😁

A heartfelt thank-you to the Akron Crusaders Pathfinder Club from Akron First SDA Church for serving at Haven of Rest Ministries! The group generously prepared food for our transient guests, helping us provide warm meals and a welcoming place for those in need.

We’re grateful for your time, compassion, and willingness to serve our community. Your kindness made a real difference!

We recently hosted nursing managers from Cleveland Clinic: Akron General and staff from Girl Scouts NEO for a tour & lunch here at the Haven of Rest. We are so thankful for their support and commitment to our community!
