🎓🐏 Celebrating Our Akron National Honor Society Members! ❤️💙

Tonight, we proudly welcomed THREE new members into the Akron High School chapter of the National Honor Society!

🌟 Congratulations to our newest inductees:
Eli, Molly, and Kirra!

We are also proud to recognize our SEVEN returning members:
Brigid, Aubree, RyLee, Zach, Estrella, Mikenna, and Malia!

Membership in the National Honor Society is more than an academic achievement. It represents a commitment to the four pillars of NHS: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. These students have demonstrated those qualities, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact they continue to make in our school and community.

👏 A special thank-you to Principal Mr. Mauler, NHS advisers Mrs. Loutensock and Mrs. Bowin, and facilities setup by Mr. Miller for their support and dedication to our students.

We received a visit from Northeast BOCES Director Tamara Durbin at our October board meeting last night. The purpose of her visit was to recognize Fred Raish who serves on the Akron School Board, as well as the BOCES Board. Congratulations, Fred!

Congratulations to Fred Raish, Colorado BOCES Association (CBA) All-State Board Award winner. Fred is a board member for the Akron School District and the Treasurer of the Northeast BOCES Board. He’s served on the Northeast BOCES Board since 2021 and is dedicated to improving education for the students and communities in northeast Colorado. Thank you for your leadership Fred!

Thank You, Akron Elementary Community!

Our Akron Elementary Literacy Night was a wonderful success, and that’s because of you—our families, staff, and volunteers who showed up, participated, and made the evening meaningful.

To all the families who attended, thank you for spending the evening learning, reading, creating, and celebrating literacy with us. Your support strengthens our school community and helps our students grow as confident readers.

A heartfelt thank‑you to our Akron Elementary staff for planning engaging activities.

We also extend huge appreciation to our FCCLA and Honor Society high school volunteers who helped host activities.

And a very special thank‑you to Sara Carney from CDE for presenting our parent class on the Science of Reading.

Parents of PS - 2nd Grade,

Due to the rainy weather forecasted for this Wednesday, Oct. 14th, we will be rescheduling our Preschool-2nd grade field trip to the pumpkin patch. We will be going next Tuesday, October 20th.

As of right now, the 3rd-5th grade field trip is still scheduled for this Thursday, Oct. 15th. We will continue to monitor the weather and let you know if anything changes.
