Meet Hannah McCullough, LMSW!

Hannah is a dedicated counselor at Family Connection, providing compassionate, evidence-based counseling services to youth ages 12–17 and their families.

She holds a Master of Social Work from Troy University and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Montevallo. Hannah joined Family Connection as an intern in August 2025 and brings additional experience from the Shelby County Juvenile Probation Office and her work as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA).

Using trauma-informed care and therapeutic approaches, Hannah strives to create a supportive environment where young people feel heard, valued, and empowered to overcome challenges.

🐝 Fun Fact: Hannah is a beekeeper!

🌟 Meet Our Counselor: Ouida L. Wright, LMSW! 🌟

Family Connection is excited to introduce Ouida L. Wright, Licensed Master Social Worker and Counselor, who joined our team in July 2026!

Ouida earned her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Montevallo and her Master of Social Work from Samford University. She specializes in helping children, teens, and families navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral challenges, family conflict, and life's transitions.

Her passion for counseling began while working as a substitute teacher, where she discovered her natural ability to connect with young people and provide a safe space for them to share their struggles.

❤️ Ouida believes counseling should be a place where everyone feels heard, respected, and supported without judgment.

🎤 Fun Fact: Ouida auditioned for American Idol FIVE times! Although counseling became her calling, music will always have a special place in her heart!

💙 Her message to the community:
"Your current circumstances do not have to determine your future."

Over the next several weeks, we will introduce you to Family Connection’s Counselors---- Ouida Wright, LMSW, Andrea Vazquez, LMSW, Hannah McCullough, LMSW, and Elizabeth Merrill, ALC.

In each spotlight, you'll learn a little more about who they are, what inspired them to become a counselor, the populations they are passionate about serving, and what they love most about being part of Family Connection.

Behind every counseling session is a person who chose a career centered around helping others—and we think those individuals deserve to be celebrated.

For 50 years, Family Connection has worked to provide hope and support to youth and families in our community. Our counselors continue that legacy every day through compassion, patience, encouragement, and a commitment to being there when families need someone most.

We are incredibly proud of our counseling team, and we can't wait for you to meet each of them.

Family Connection would like to give a big thank you to Legion Soccer Team for inviting us out to the soccer game and giving us the opportunity to be part of such a fun evening!

We loved being able to enjoy the game, connect with our community, and share more about Family Connection and the work we do for youth and families.

Family Connection Counselors had the opportunity to attend the Justice and Substance Use at the Alabama Summit, hosted by the University of Alabama!

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with others, gain valuable insight, and learn more about the challenges surrounding substance use and its impact on individuals, families, and communities.

And to make the experience even more memorable, we had the exciting opportunity to meet Danny Trejo! 🎬🌟

We are grateful for the opportunity to attend such a meaningful event and bring back knowledge and inspiration to help us continue making a difference in the lives of those we serve. ❤️💙

🎳 WHAT A DAY! STRIKES FOR STRONGER FAMILIES 2026! 🎳

We are still smiling after an incredible afternoon at Strikes for Stronger Families! 💙💚

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out, laced up those bowling shoes, and spent the afternoon with us. Whether you were throwing strikes, picking up spares, finding the gutter more often than you’d like to admit 😂, or simply cheering on your team—you helped make the day so much fun!

This event was about so much more than bowling. It was about families, friends, laughter, community, and coming together to support the work of Family Connection. We are incredibly grateful to every bowler, family member, friend, volunteer, sponsor, and supporter who helped make the day possible.

🏆 And CONGRATULATIONS to all of our award winners! You brought the skills, the spirit, the laughs, and maybe even a little friendly competition!
