We know how stressful life can be for today's teens! Why not take a break and add some Zen to your life! Celebrate TeenTober at the West End Library! Teens (students in 8th - 12th grade) are welcome to join us and create a Mini-Zen Garden to use when life gets to be too much. This event will be held on October 22 at 4 pm. No registration is required. Snacks and supplies provided. Just bring yourself and a friend or two.

Join us at the West End Library as we welcome Miss Stephanie from Petit Picasso in celebrating Filipino American History Month. This exciting art workshop will feature the artwork of Filipino American artist Nikita Ares, whose work reflects the movement and energy of the Filipino people. Participants of this workshop will create an art piece inspired by the artist's vivid colors and style. This workshop will take place on Saturday, October 24, at 1:00 pm. Registration is required. This is a multigenerational workshop, minimum age required is 8 years old.

Join us at the West End Library during the month of October when Miss Virginia will be hosting some Slightly Spooky Storytimes, followed up by a slightly spooky craft. These Storytimes will be held on Wednesday, October 7, Wednesday, October 14 and Wednesday, October 21 all at 3:30 pm. Come to one or come to all! No registration required. These Storytimes are recommended for children aged 5 years and up.

Celebrate Teentober with us at Bay Farm Island Library on Saturday, October 17th from 3-4PM with local author Myranda Wren. Join us to discuss Wren's debut novel, a Young Adult historical fiction and gothic fantasy set in San Francisco titled The Nighttimes. Participants will enjoy a sneak peek of Wren's delightfully ethereal new book set to release on October 20th! Myranda Wren will read from The Nighttimes, discuss her writing process, do some book giveaways, and more! Teens and adults are welcome to attend.

Announcing a new program at Bay Farm Island Library: Adult Spanish Conversation Circle! Join us at Bay Farm Island Library on the second Tuesday of each month from 4:30-5:30PM. All levels are welcome to practice the Spanish language in a low-stress environment and gain confidence speaking Spanish in your communities. We will play games and participate in exercises, read stories in Spanish, and more! Our first meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 13th from 4:30-5:30PM.

It’s back! Big Truck Bonanza, the library’s touch-a-truck event will be held on Saturday, October 10 from 1-3pm in the City Hall parking lot! Meet trucks from various City departments, like Alameda Police, Alameda Fire, and Alameda Municipal Power. It’s going to be big!

Acompáñanos el domingo 11 de octubre, de 2 a 3 p. m., en la Biblioteca Principal, Stafford Room (1550 Oak St.), para disfrutar de una tarde de música, cultura y tradición.

Disfruta de una presentación especial de Mariachi San Francisco, con hermosas voces, ritmos alegres y las vibrantes tradiciones de la música mariachi. También habrá copias gratuitas de "La banda de mariachis de Adela" disponibles en inglés y español, hasta agotar existencias.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Mariachi San Francisco!

Join us at the Alameda Free Library on Sunday, October 11, from 2–3 PM at the Main Library, Stafford Room (1550 Oak St.) for an afternoon of music, culture, and tradition.

Enjoy a special performance by Mariachi San Francisco, featuring the beautiful voices, lively rhythms, and vibrant traditions of mariachi music. Free copies of "Adela’s Mariachi Band" will also be available in English and Spanish, while supplies last.

Celebrate Filipino American History Month with us!

Join us on Sunday, October 18 from at the Main Library, 1550 Oak St. for Filipino American History: Music, Stories, and Halo Halo!

The celebration includes:

1:00 PM: Meet children’s author Justine Eva Villanueva for a reading of "Mungan and Lola", followed by a book signing. Free picture books will be available for families while supplies last.

2:00 PM: Enjoy a bilingual musical performance celebrating Filipino culture through music and storytelling in Tagalog and English. Presented by Emmie and Friends.

2:30–4:30 PM: Enjoy free Halo Halo from The Sarap Shop, while supplies last.

Bring your family and friends and enjoy an afternoon celebrating Filipino American stories, music, traditions, and community. All activities are free and open to all!
