HAPPY BIRTHDAY BILLY PRESCOTT

Billy is one of a kind and will drop everything to help a citizen in need. He is the longest serving employee of the Crockett County Ambulance Service and was honored as Tennessee’s EMT of the Year in 2025 - an award long overdue.

Years ago, applicants would have to write a couple of sentences about why they would like to work at the ambulance service on the back of their employment application. This practice was instituted by Mr. Larry Griffin in the early days.

“I would like to help serve and aid the public in any way possible to better my community and better mankind. I feel I am qualified to handle the obligations and responsibilities that this position requires. I work well with other people and fellow workers. I feel that this career is one I can excel in. This job is a team effort in which I would very much like to be part of.” -Billy Prescott, 1990

36 years later and he is still keeping his word to the citizens of Crockett County. Billy is probably the only employee who has never changed shifts. He’s been on the same shift for 36 years and continues to serve as a shift supervisor - a position he has held for many years.

Billy - the citizens don’t have the words to adequately express their appreciation for 36 years of selfless and sacrificial service through EMS, the fire department, and as a charter member of the rescue squad along with being a dedicated member of the dive team. All we can say is a heartfelt, genuine thank you!

As you can see, you don’t choose EMS. It chooses you. Thank you for your service, we appreciate you, and we hope you have a fantastic birthday!

A Public Service Announcement for Big Orange Nation

Dear Tennessee Fans,

The No. 1 Texas Longhorns are in Neyland today, and Crockett County Ambulance Service would like to offer the following game-day medical guidance:

✅ Hydrate. (Water counts. So does sweet tea, but water counts more…you already know this.)

✅ Go easy on the salt. The chips, dip and smoked wings are not a food group.

✅ Monitor your blood pressure and pulse rate, especially on third down.

✅ Breathe. It's a long game, and it's only the SEC opener.

If you begin to experience numbness, tingling, slurred speech, chest pain, shortness of breath, or any other life-threatening symptoms, have your people call our people….📞 911

We'll be here all game long, whatever the scoreboard says.

We remember not only the civilians that were killed, but the EMS, Fire, and law-enforcement officers who were killed in the line of duty.

25 years of remembering and we won’t stop now because they deserve the best and it’s the least we can do.

Thank you - NYPD/NYFD for your courage and heroism in the face of danger. You are a great example to the rest of the world and to us.

Guess what? As the Crockett County Ambulance Service is standing by for the football game at Cavalier Stadium tonight, we would like you to know that Dacey Ellington also passed her National Registry exam to become another one of our newest paramedics.

Her license posted this morning and the ink isn’t dry yet 👏. She has been with us for several years and is an incredible EMS provider!

Crockett, you are in good hands with Paramedics RJ and Dacey! Let’s celebrate!
