💙 Big things happen when a community shows up for its kids.

Colorado Gives Day is coming up on December 8, but you don't have to wait until then to make a difference!

Early giving opens November 1!

Every day, Boys & Girls Clubs of the San Luis Valley creates opportunities for young people to learn, grow, build friendships, and discover what they're capable of.

From afterschool programs and early childhood education to workforce pathways and family support, our work continues to grow alongside the needs of our community.

And none of it happens alone.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be sharing stories of the people, programs, and partnerships that make this work possible, along with ways you can help us keep building hope and belonging for kids across the Valley.

💙 A stronger Colorado starts with stronger communities.

When we think about Colorado's future, we often think about new businesses, jobs, housing, and economic growth.

But what about the people who make that future possible?

At Boys & Girls Clubs of the San Luis Valley, we're investing in the next generation of Coloradans while supporting the families and communities raising them.

That looks like:
🏡 Helping working families access reliable childcare.
🎓 Giving young people opportunities to explore careers and build skills.
💙 Creating safe, supportive spaces where kids can build confidence, friendships, and a sense of belonging.
🤝 Connecting families with resources and relationships that help them thrive.

These investments matter far beyond the walls of our Clubs.

When parents can work, young people can see a future for themselves in their hometowns, and families have the support they need, our entire region becomes stronger.

And when rural communities thrive, Colorado thrives.

We're proud to be part of building a future where every young person, regardless of their ZIP code, has the opportunity to succeed.

🚗 Sometimes, a working car can change everything.

For more than six months, a family in Conejos County had been without a working vehicle. Getting to appointments, pursuing job opportunities, and managing everyday needs meant relying on others for transportation.

Recently, with support from Margulf HHS, our team helped the family purchase a new starter and battery to get their vehicle back on the road.

When they learned about the support, they shared how grateful they were for the opportunity to travel independently again. 💙

It's a reminder that sometimes the biggest changes start with addressing a very practical need. A reliable vehicle means more freedom, more opportunities, and one less barrier for a family working toward stability.

We're grateful to Margulf HHS and the partners who help us show up for families across the San Luis Valley.

This is what community support looks like in action.

🤠💙 Blue Jeans, Big Dreams, and a community that showed up for our kids!

What a night at our Blue Jeans & Big Dreams Gala! From BBQ and a lively auction to exploring new technology coming to our Clubs, it was an evening full of fun, generosity, and community.

One of the most meaningful moments was presenting the Legacy of Service Awards to Judy McNeilsmith and the late Robert (Rob) Oringdulph.

Judy spoke about how proud she is to have been part of BGCSLV and encouraged others to get involved. Rob's wife, Susan, accepted his award and shared memories of his unwavering dedication to the Club, including how he always made time for BGCSLV meetings and his famously terrible dad jokes. She even brought the room some laughter by sharing one of his favorites. 💙

A huge thank you to our generous sponsors!

As Aaron reminded us that evening, our big dream is a San Luis Valley where every young person knows they belong, has people in their corner, and has reason to hope.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this night possible and continues to make that dream a reality!

📸 Here are a few of our favorite moments!

“I remember having a work call at the same time that we had young people in the Boys & Girls Club, and hundreds of young people in the club accessing the internet, either through their personal devices, or through our technology lab, or through the homework help station.

And I had an important call with the attorney general for the state of Colorado, and the video bandwidth wouldn't allow me to be able to have an effective conversation. So through a series of frustrations and not being able to find a way to connect through my office, I had to leave the Boys & Girls Club and get in my car, and drive out and use self-service instead of using Wi-Fi to finish my conversation.

Luckily, the attorney general was very gracious and understood, but that was the moment when I knew we had to do something different. If we don't have a service that can allow young people to use the internet at the same time as the staff who work in our space, it's not good enough. And Jade was able to give us plenty of bandwidth, and plenty of separation, so that those things happen seamlessly.”

Our SLVBHG team had a great time attending the Boys & Girls Clubs of the San Luis Valley’s Blue Jeans & Big Dreams Annual Gala on Saturday night! 💙👖

The evening brought our community together to celebrate the incredible work of the Boys & Girls Clubs while raising funds to support the programs and opportunities they provide for local youth.

We’re proud to support an organization that invests in our kids and helps build a stronger future for the San Luis Valley. Thank you for a wonderful evening and for all you do for our community! ✨

Sometimes the moments that remind us why this work matters are incredibly simple.

During a recent intake, our team learned that a community member had been living without running water for eight months, hauling water from a neighbor’s home. Our team was able to help get her water reconnected and work with her on a way to continue paying for the service while providing additional resource support.

Behind so much of our work are moments like this. A basic need met. A little more stability. One less thing to carry.
