SUNY Polytechnic Institute officially cut the ribbon on Tuesday, September 15, celebrating the completion of a major renovation of the Campus Center. The two‑and‑a‑half‑year project had a construction value of $41.5 million. It turned the former swimming pool area into new space and renovated the lobby, gymnasium, locker rooms and athletic support spaces.
The project filled in the swimming pool and added a second floor inside the two‑story space. It created several multi‑use classrooms and new student support and activity areas, including Residential Life offices. Renovations included a new stairway and elevator serving the renovated spaces, replacement mechanical systems, and new lighting, HVAC distribution, partitions and finishes, along with limited exterior work.
SUNY Poly President Dr. Winston Oluwole "Wole" Soboyejo spoke about the project and what it means for the campus, and Jeff Vandenburgh also gave remarks. Also in attendance were Anne Garrity, Lauren Mott, Matt Moore and Peter Taylor, the Fund's Regional Director.
