COMMUNITY SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS IN ACTION! ROOTS ACADEMY TAKES ON SUGAR PLUM FARM!

Yesterday, October 21, our Roots Academy students experienced an unforgettable Books, Barns & Character Day at Sugar Plum Farm! From interacting with farm animals and enjoying hands-on activities, laughter, and an exciting Character Parade, the day was filled with meaningful experiences and memories our students will carry beyond the classroom!

THE POWER OF COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS!

Experiences like this are only possible when community partners come together with a shared commitment to creating opportunities for our students.

Sugar Plum Farm Saratoga: A heartfelt THANK YOU to Sugar Plum Farm, its incredible network of community partners, and volunteers for opening their doors, sharing their resources, and creating such an engaging experience for our students!

Albany Fund For Education: A special THANK YOU for your Partnership Grant which provided funding for transportation, helping make it possible for our entire school community to participate in this incredible opportunity!

💚 Roots Academy Teachers & Staff: Thank you for your flexibility, teamwork, and dedication to ensuring our students had a safe, exciting, and memorable experience!

🌟 United Community Schools: THIS IS WHAT COMMUNITY SCHOOLS ARE ALL ABOUT!

Breaking down barriers, building meaningful partnerships, and creating opportunities that extend far beyond the traditional classroom. When schools and community partners work together, our students WIN!

Last week, our first and third graders took an exciting field trip to Katchkie Farm in Kinderhook! Our students had a wonderful time exploring, learning, and getting hands-on with farm life. Check out these great photos captured by their teachers!

Learning Beyond the Classroom at Roots Academy!

We’re proud to recognize the successful 1st & 3rd Grade visits to Katchkie Farm in partnership with our amazing community partner, The Sylvia Center!

Our students had an opportunity to learn through real-world, hands-on experiences—exploring the farm, picking and tasting fresh fruits and vegetables, and even preparing their own wood-fired pizzas using ingredients harvested during the day!

A huge thank you to The Sylvia Center at Katchkie Farm for creating such a meaningful experience for our students. Partnerships like these help us provide opportunities that extend learning well beyond the traditional classroom.

The Sylvia Center will return to Roots later this month for a 10-week in-class cooking and nutrition program!

❤️🖤 Rooted in learning. Rooted in community. Rooted in opportunity.
