The Mohawk Valley Latino Assoc. honored outstanding local businesses and organizations at this weekend's annual Hispanic Gala in Rome. The event lived up to this year's theme "UNIDOS, SOMOS MAS," Together, We are More. Congratulations to all the honorees and thank you to my friend, MVLA Exec. Dir. Sonia Martinez and Board President Chemy Rodriguez for your leadership.

I enjoyed speaking with NYS Public Employees Federation (Official) retirees about the state’s finances, the strength of the pension fund and standing shoulder to shoulder with labor. I was also lucky to tour the Brentwood Public Library, a pillar of the community since 1937. It has an impressive adult literacy program, ESL and citizenship preparation classes and bilingual story times.
