R.D. López City Council - City of Albany.
1st Latino/Indigenous Mayor of Albany. Former Commissioner. Ecologist. Scholar. Photographer. Father. Robin D.

López was raised in San Pablo and Richmond, CA (Ohlone Land) and spent much of his youth working in Oakland and San Francisco. He has an academic and research background invested locally. López attended De Anza High School (Richmond, California) and graduated from Contra Costa College (San Pablo, California) with degrees in Mathematics(AS), Physics(AS), and Sociology(AA) . He transferred and graduated from San Francisco State University with a BS in Civil Engineering. López most recently completed graduate studies at San José State University in Water Resources Engineering, and is also a Research Associate at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab (2012-present), working on several projects for the U.S. Department of Energy addressing subsurface technology. Presently he is a Ph.D Candidate at the University of California, Berkeley in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy, & Management. He also mentors and teaches 4th/5th grade scholars for a local non-profit, Metas. His trajectory in life was once misguided, not uncommon for many young people from his region, but a passion for the STEM field grew out of resources, opportunities and mentorship. He now commits himself to outreach, ensuring rising scholars can actualize their potential. He cares passionately about mental health awareness and access, science justice and equity, and why people put pineapple on pizza. Outside of the scholarly work, research, and outreach, he is a parent. Working hard to ensure his children are equipped with the best tools and resources possible to inch our society closer to a more just and equitable space.

Voter registration table posted on Masonic(near Solano). Make sure you’re registered to vote. A good democracy is an engaged democracy in which we exercises our rights, freedom and privileges to vote. Regardless of who or what you vote for - make sure you’re registered to vote if you’re eligible!
Table will be posted until 4pm. Had great convo with the folks and I’m happy to know they’re keeping folks engaged and informed on voter registration. Posting as informational piece as current councilmember. I had shared with the group, that I would not record next to their table or in a manner that makes it appear that they’re engaged with me, as I’m clearly seeking re-election and respect election rules.
You’ll never catch me hijacking community events or non-profit spaces for political gain. 💯💯

Now, go get registered and vote!! 🗳️

🗳️VOTE UNION! 🗳️ Have you checked out our SEIU 1021 November General Election voter guide yet?

Union members have a key role to play in this election to protect public services and our democracy! We must lead this charge by voting, showing up, and spreading the word.

Members across Northern California in our Committee on Political Education (COPE) interviewed dozens of candidates and ballot measure proponents and opponents.

SEIU 1021 endorsements are decided by OUR MEMBERS and are compiled in the SEIU 1021 Voter Guide. Be sure to follow the SEIU 1021 Voter Guide to elect worker champions and support ballot measures that will keep our communities a safe place for all and protect our jobs.

While we face unprecedented threats at the national level, we are also fighting harmful candidates and legislation right here in California.

Voting is a powerful way we can make our voices heard!

Get you a councilmember that truly knows environmental justice and climate action. Not just talk, but has actually done the work via academic research and policy. From working with the US Dept of Energy at the Berkeley Lab for several years as a researcher to being at UC Berkeley for PhD, my talk ain’t cheap.
Presently, my efforts have taken me to the central Sierra Nevada mountains where I’m able to teach the next generation about stewardship, freshwater ecology, and climate resilience.

Albany, vote López and Tiedemann for city council, because we bring the much needed expertise and experience to advance our city forward. We work with constituents, and we believe in the power of community-inspired policy.

Together, we can build a better Albany!

Albany Says No Kings!
85° outside today, but we coolin’ on a vibe to make sure folks vote early and vote blue!

I’ve consistently shown up for days of action, and delivered on policy where it matters most. As we focus on supporting a blue wave, it’s important we support this at the local level too. Albany residents - get your ballots in. Make sure to vote myself and Aaron Tiedemann as your top 2 choices. Make sure to vote yes on all our ballot measure.
Local elections matter. We cannot risk losing my vote and voice on city council. 🗳️
I’m going up against massive expenses by outside corporate PAC money. Your vote and campaign contributions are important. Even just sharing with an Albany neighbor can make a difference.💯💪🏽

I want to applaud the community members at the No Kings protest today, who were quick to provide care and support to a cyclist who was the victim of a hit and run at the corner of Marin/San Pablo Ave.

The driver turned the corner aggressively at a high rate of speed and hit the cyclist who was already several feet into the crosswalk. Then sped off. Thankfully, a license plate number was documented and APD and AFD were able to respond immediately. The victim was thankfully okay after landing quite hard on their back that was saved by their large backpack.

Improved and protected pedestrian and cycling infrastructure is needed along our busier corridors. The risk of losing a life, is not a sacrifice I’m willing to make when considering options for advancing our active transportation plan.

Some y’all been seeing me wearing my shirt for several years with same phrase. I’ve long been advocating for stricter regulations and safety measures. I’m not oblivious to the reality that it won’t magically end all gun violence.
Though, we as a society must reckon with what has sadly become a normalcy and make changes. Not just with gun control, but with investment in social services, health care access, and economic opportunities. Just several of the low hanging fruits that could make a huge impact.
Thoughts and prayers don’t suffice.

Pull up and activate in Albany!
2pm at Marin/San Pablo Ave (city hall) on Saturday, 10/17.
Bring water, and keep yourself hydrated and cool. It’s supposed to be warm.
Let’s send a message to the fascist regime and anyone supporting it! And make sure to vote early.
That includes local elections. These elections have impacts. Don’t vote for the status quo. Vote for leaders who have and will continue to stand up against tyranny.
Albany - remember to only vote for López & Tiedemann as your top choices. People claiming to only focus on Albany fail to recognize and understand that our city is not insulated from the chaos of the federal government. At the local levels, decisions and policy must be made to protect our community.

See y’all in the streets tomorrow! We been ten toes deep, advocating.

Appreciate good local coverage on what’s been happening.
We’ve been supporting the improvements of sidewalks.
A couple candidates have stated during this election cycle they would get our sidewalks repaired. But the facts are, it’s been happening because we as a city voted to fund these necessary improvements.
Anyone claiming to do the work that’s already being done and that we’ve directly supported, is giving misleading promises.

Albany has repaired thousands of square feet of sidewalk this year.
