🍎💐Farm Friday!

This week, the Grow the Growers interns began to learn about preserving our bountiful harvests! Interns used a c***r press to make apple and grape juice from the fruit grown in our orchard, and our dehydrator machine is busily drying out our hot peppers. Making bouquets with our cut flowers to take home is also the best way to end the week!

The Gutiérrez-Hubbell House Museum in collaboration with Mu***os y Marigolds is pleased to announce a call for entries for our fall exhibition “Día de los Mu***os: Ofrendas Comunitarias and Cultural Traditions” featuring the work of local Albuquerque artists (preference will be given to artists in the South Valley Community). The theme this year is:

‘Cómete el Patriarcado, Feed our Future’
We took inspiration from Tlazōlteōtl, who is a devourer of garbage and destruction and transforms it into goodness and empowerment. She takes all that is harmful and alchemizes it into nutrients for the community so that there can be rebirth and growth for future generations.

The Gutiérrez-Hubbell House Museum seeks artists in the following mediums: drawing, painting, graphic design, sculpture, ceramics, and mixed media.

All submissions and questions can be directed to [email protected].

Artists will be chosen by a panel of jurors and notified via email on
Saturday, September 12. During notification, an installation appointment will be scheduled with museum staff.

Artists may not sell artwork during the exhibition. Photography is
permitted throughout the exhibit.

Please note that artwork must be ready-to-hang or be reasonably installable from Saturday, September 26 to Thursday, October 1. Time frames for installation are from 10:00am-4:00pm (closed Sunday/Monday).
