Join other volunteer coordinators and members of the CABQ Volunteers Advisory Board for a Community of Practice (CoP) event:

Topic: Connecting Mission & Meaning to Volunteer Programs

Date: Tuesday, November 3, 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

During this session, reflect on your organization's mission, exchange ideas, and discover how purpose-driven volunteerism strengthens programs.

This is a brown-bag event, feel free to bring food and refreshment or you can order from Say Cheese located at the entrance to The Cell.

These Community of Practice events are meant to reinvigorate connections, ideas, and resources among volunteer coordinators.

Volunteer coordinators are in unique positions — we engage community members AND look for solutions to community issues. These ongoing conversations are a space for you to discuss your experience and share your insights among shared community and support one another in our engagement work.

From the weekend to today, the Office of Civic Engagement has been out and about connecting with the people, organizations, and community members who make Albuquerque such a special place to call home! 🌟

Whether we’re attending local events, meeting new faces, supporting community initiatives, or catching up with familiar friends, we love every opportunity to show up, listen, learn, and build meaningful connections with our community.

These moments remind us that engagement is about more than just showing up — it’s about building relationships, celebrating the people who make a difference, and finding new ways to serve together. ❤️

Get ready for an incredible weekend of community action across Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18! Kick things off on Saturday morning with the Rio Grande Food Project's Hike to End Hunger Festival (8:00 AM – 12:30 PM) to support their largest fundraiser of the year through setup, greeter roles, and lawn games.
Keep the momentum going Saturday afternoon (1:00 PM – 6:00 PM) at the Duke City Marathon Health & Fitness Expo, 2nd shift, managing packet and T-shirt booths and helping with tear-down.
Finally, wrap up a busy weekend on Sunday morning, October 18, by joining the Duke City Marathon Race Day crew at the finish-line food and drink station to cheer on runners and celebrate their finish-line success. Grab your spot today and help make these wonderful events unforgettable!

Get involved and make a difference in Albuquerque this fall through three exciting community roles! You can experience the electrifying race-day energy firsthand by cheering on runners and handing out water at a Duke City Marathon motivation station, or by serving as a vital connector at the Civic Connections Volunteer Fest, welcoming attendees, helping residents register on the OneABQ Volunteers portal, and supporting local nonprofits.

If you prefer building meaningful, long-term connections, you can become an Oasis Intergenerational Reading Mentor to provide weekly one-on-one encouragement and academic support to a local 1st–3rd grade elementary student. Whether you want a high-energy single-day event or a rewarding mentoring experience, there is a perfect opportunity waiting for you to give back!
