Field trip fun! Third graders got to go to Los Padillas Wildlife Sanctuary for some fun outdoor learning this week. They got to be outdoor scientists, studying plants & wildlife. 🍂🐸🦝🌳🐻

A huge THANK YOU to all the families and volunteers who helped us pull off a successful day of Balloons & Bearathon! It was a magical morning with hot cups from Big Dipper Coffee, a fun take-off from the field by Natasha Stanke with her Wonder Woman balloon & a very cool unplanned balloon landing right on our field while kids were running! Thanks also to Bandy-dad Brian Adams for keeping the jams pumping & all the families who helped on the field.🎈🐻 🏃🏽‍♀️

ALBUQUERQUE ALOFT at Bandelier (and other local schools) that kicks off Balloon Fiesta is next Friday, October 2, 2026! Hot air balloons will (weather permitting) inflate and launch from Bandelier’s grassy field. Gates will be unlocked and families and community members are invited to interact with the balloonists and watch from the field.*

The inflation generally takes place starting around 7am and potential launches could take place afterwards.

*If you are planning to attend please keep in mind you will need to stay with your student the entire time. There will not be staff on campus during the event to monitor students.

See you bright & early next Friday morning! 🎈This year’s Bearathon fun run will take place afterward! It’ll be a fun-filled Friday, so don’t forget your running shoes! 🎈🏃🏽‍♀️🐻

Help us reach our goal! We’re a little over a week out for this year’s Bear-a-thon FUNdraiser fun run 🏃🏽‍♀️ 🐻 which will now take place on Friday, October 2nd after Balloons Aloft. Sept. 1st: Picture Day 📸
Also - It’s time to sign up for chess club! The Bears Chess Club is meeting on Wednesdays this year and starts up on Sep. 16th! ♟️

Learning chess in a club setting can serve as a fun ‘mental playground’ that effectively sharpens the focus, patience, and executive functioning skills essential for students’ classroom success. It is also a great place for kids to make new friends! This program is brought to us by Learners Chess, a local non-profit that has been running chess programs for kids in New Mexico since 2010. This year’s coach will be Coach Levi.

WHEN: This year’s club will meet on Wednesdays, after school from 4pm - 5:15pm.
WHO: Open to all 1st graders and up.
