The Alexander City Police Department is filled with many dedicated, hardworking men and women who are committed to keeping our community safe. The department will continue to be proactive in addressing crimes and apprehending the offenders, as well as continuing to teach crime prevention techniques to the members of our community. In addition, the Department is in the process of adapting the Intelligence ‐LED Policing Model to our agency. This will allow us to be more effective and efficient in utilizing our resources to identify, interrupt, apprehend and prosecute criminals in our community. In closing, the command staff and I look forward to the upcoming challenges. The continued support from the Mayor and City Council, as well as the citizens of this community, is greatly appreciated. DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, October 24th, 2026 from 9:00am until 11:00am at the Alexander City Walgreen's.

Help keep our community safe by clearing out unneeded, unused, or expired prescription medications and bringing them to the collection site. Disposal is free, and no appointment is needed.

Tablets, capsules, patches, and other prescription medications will be accepted. Please ensure all liquid medications are securely sealed in their original containers.

Syringes and sharps will not be accepted.

The Alexander City Police Department typically experiences an increase in calls for service during periods of inclement weather. With the potential for downed trees, power outages, and hazardous road conditions, we anticipate an increase in calls as the weather progresses.

We encourage everyone to take precautions, remain weather-aware, and avoid unnecessary travel if conditions become hazardous.
• Watch for falling trees and debris.
• Be prepared for possible power outages.
• Stay away from downed power lines and report them to the appropriate utility provider.

Please remember that increased call volumes may result in longer response times. We appreciate your patience and understanding as our officer’s work to serve and protect our community.
