β˜˜οΈπŸš’ SHAMROCK SPOTLIGHT – TEAM TUESDAY! πŸš’β˜˜οΈ

πŸ”₯ MEET THE HEROES BEHIND THE HELMET! πŸ”₯

It’s time for another edition of Shamrock Spotlight! Each week, we introduce you to one of the dedicated men and women who proudly serve the Shannon Hills Fire Department and our wonderful community!

πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’ THIS WEEK’S SPOTLIGHT: LIEUTENANT TREY LONG!

πŸš’ Rank: Lieutenant

☘️ Years of Service: 1 Year & 6 Months

Lieutenant Long has been a dedicated member of the Shannon Hills Fire Department for a year and a half! His journey into the fire service began with something very special β€” watching our volunteer firefighters come together to serve the community during the devastating floods of 2025.

Seeing the difference our department made inspired Trey to step up, volunteer, and become part of something bigger than himself. Today, he proudly serves as a Lieutenant and one of the primary drivers of Engine 46!

We asked Lieutenant Long a few questions so our community could get to know him a little better!

πŸ”₯ What made you want to become a firefighter?

πŸ’¬ β€œSeeing our volunteer fire department serving our community during the 2025 flood made me want to get involved and do the same.”

πŸ“¦ What do you do for work outside the fire department?

πŸ’¬ β€œI work in a warehouse.”

🦌 What are some of your hobbies or interests outside the fire department?

πŸ’¬ β€œHunting and riding four-wheelers.”

πŸš’ What is your favorite truck or piece of equipment at the Shannon Hills Fire Department, and why?

πŸ’¬ β€œEngine 46, because I’ve become the main driver of the engine.”

🍝 What is your favorite food?

πŸ’¬ β€œFettuccine Alfredo!”

⚑ Coffee, energy drink, or neither?

πŸ’¬ β€œEnergy drink! Particularly the White Ghost!”

πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’ What advice would you give someone interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter?

πŸ’¬ β€œDon’t overthink it. Shannon Hills FD will teach you everything you need to know.”

☘️ MORE THAN JUST A FIREFIGHTER! ☘️

Lieutenant Long’s story is a great reminder of what volunteer firefighting is all about. Sometimes all it takes is seeing your neighbors helping neighbors to inspire you to make a difference yourself.

From witnessing our department’s response during the 2025 floods to becoming a Lieutenant and helping operate Engine 46, Trey is a great example of what dedication, training, and a willingness to serve can accomplish.

πŸ‘ Please join us in thanking Lieutenant Trey Long for his dedication, hard work, and commitment to protecting the citizens of Shannon Hills!

🚨 INTERESTED IN BECOMING A VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER? 🚨

Take Lieutenant Long’s advice β€” don’t overthink it! You don’t have to know everything when you walk through our doors. We’ll provide the training, guidance, and support to help you succeed!

πŸš’πŸ’§ PUBLIC NOTICE: FIRE HYDRANT TESTING – SHANNON HILLS πŸ’§πŸš’

πŸ“… Tuesday, October 20, 2026

The Shannon Hills Fire Department would like to inform residents that our firefighters will be conducting fire hydrant testing tomorrow, October 20, 2026.

πŸ“ AREAS AFFECTED:

⚠️ Hydrant testing will include ALL streets located EAST of Vimy Ridge Road within the City of Shannon Hills.

This testing is an important part of ensuring our fire hydrants are functioning properly and providing adequate water flow and pressure in the event of a fire emergency.

⚠️ WHAT RESIDENTS MAY NOTICE:

During hydrant testing, residents may experience:

* Temporary fluctuations in water pressure.
* Brown, yellow, or rusty-colored water.
* Sediment or discoloration in household water.

WHY DOES THE WATER TURN BROWN?

When hydrants are opened, the increased water flow can stir up naturally occurring minerals and sediment, such as iron, that have settled inside the water mains. This can temporarily cause discoloration.

πŸ’§ WHAT SHOULD YOU DO IF YOUR WATER TURNS BROWN?

βœ… 1. Run Cold Water: Turn on a cold-water faucet, preferably an outside spigot or bathtub faucet, and allow it to run for several minutes to help flush out sediment.

βœ… 2. Avoid Hot Water: Do not run hot water while your water is discolored. This helps prevent sediment from entering your hot water heater.

βœ… 3. Hold Off on Laundry: Avoid washing clothes, especially whites, until your water runs clear. Rust-colored water may stain clothing.

βœ… 4. Check Your Water: Once your cold water runs clear, check other faucets before resuming normal use.

βœ… 5. Still Experiencing Discoloration? If your water does not clear after 10–15 minutes, turn it off, wait a while, and try again. If the problem continues, contact your water utility provider.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: If your water is visibly discolored, avoid drinking or cooking with it until it clears. Contact your water utility if you have concerns about water safety. Hydrant testing does not automatically mean a boil-water advisory is in effect.

πŸš’ WHY IS HYDRANT TESTING IMPORTANT?

Our firefighters rely on these hydrants to provide the water needed to protect your homes, businesses, and families. Routine testing allows us to identify potential problems before an emergency occurs.

❀️ THANK YOU, SHANNON HILLS!

We appreciate your patience and understanding as our firefighters work to keep our community safe. Please use caution when traveling near firefighters conducting hydrant testing.

β˜˜οΈπŸš’ TEAM TUESDAY β€” SHAMROCK SPOTLIGHT πŸš’β˜˜οΈ

The Shannon Hills Fire Department is excited to introduce a brand-new weekly series: SHAMROCK SPOTLIGHT! ☘️

Each Tuesday, we’ll introduce you to one of the dedicated members of our team. This is your chance to get to know the people behind the scenes, behind the badge, and behind the turnouts β€” the men and women who run toward danger and respond when our neighbors need us most.

πŸ”₯ THIS WEEK’S SHAMROCK SPOTLIGHT: LT. MIKE VICENTE πŸ”₯

Lieutenant Mike Vicente has proudly served with the Shannon Hills Fire Department for six years. We asked Mike a few questions so our community could get to know the firefighter behind the turnouts!

πŸš’ What’s your favorite part of training or the fire service?
Mike: β€œDriving the fire truck is the best part!”

β˜• Coffee, energy drink, or neither?
Mike: β€œCoffee.”

πŸ”§ What are some of your hobbies or interests outside the Fire Department?
Mike enjoys working on small engines, including lawnmowers and other equipment.

πŸ”₯ What made you want to become a firefighter?
Mike: β€œWhen I first moved to Shannon Hills, my neighbor β€” who is now a Captain with the department β€” was one of my biggest influences. He was always talking to me about joining. I finally decided to make it to one of the Monday night meetings, and ever since then, I’ve loved being a part of this amazing team.”

We’re proud to have Lt. Mike Vicente as part of the SHFD family and appreciate the six years he has dedicated to serving our community!

Be sure to follow us and check back every Tuesday to see who will be featured next on ☘️ SHAMROCK SPOTLIGHT! ☘️
