We have received reports that someone has cloned our office phone number and is calling people identifying themselves as Deputy Thompson with HCSO. The caller then tells them that they did not show up for Federal Jury duty. This is a Scam as we do not call when people do not show for Federal Jury duty. (We do not have a Deputy Thompson working here either) If you do receive a call like this please do not give out any private information and end the call. You can follow up with the Federal Clerk of Courts Office or if you have questions on Hanson County Jury duty you can contact our Clerk of Courts Office as well.

HANSON HIGHWAY: The State contractor will now be closing 421st Ave, just north of Hwy 38 to 252nd St, on Tuesday morning (October 6th) to install a culvert. This will remain closed until the project is complete. Thanks!

Sept. 9TH between 12pm and 2pm Highway 262 will be closed between Main Street and 10th street in Alexandria. Traffic will be detoured to Main Street during this time. Hanson School is hosting Freshman Impact and will have a mock crash scene west of the High School. Also during this time emergency vehicles will be responding to the mock crash scene with emergency lights and sirens. Please avoid the area around the school during this time.

The phone forwarding service for the Sheriff's Office phone is not working. If you need assistance when the Office is closed please call Mitchell Dispatch at 605-995-8400 and they will get you in touch with the on duty Deputy. The office is open M-F from 8am to 4:30PM. The issue is being worked on but we are unsure when it will be resolved. For emergencies please continue to call 911.
