Mr. Powell joined the North Rapides Business and Industry Alliance on Monday to share our district’s progress, an update on bond projects, and plans for even more student growth this year.

Principals and teachers from our north parish schools were right there with him. Thank you to NRBIA for supporting our students and staff!

Our young artists have a new audience, and visiting makes for one sweet stop! 🧁

Talented Art students from across Rapides Parish now have their work on display at Little Cakes in Alexandria, thanks to art teachers, Mrs. Kee and Mrs. Bandy, who took time to set up the installation piece by piece.

We're grateful to Little Cakes for opening its shop to feature our students' work. Come by, enjoy a treat, and celebrate the creativity in our classrooms!

You couldn’t hear the music, but you could see the joy! 🪩

Ball Elementary closed out Quarter 1 with a silent disco to celebrate students who showed up and stayed consistent, and it was a treat to see students and administrators celebrating side by side!

Let’s make Quarter 2 a great one by being at school, ready to learn, and cheering each other on. We’ll see you tomorrow! 🎧

Faces of Impact celebrates the people who engage, empower, and elevate our students.

This week, meet Stacey Gaskins, assistant principal at J.I. Barron Elemetary.
She works hard, knows her job inside and out, and keeps pushing to do it better. It’s clear she loves what she does!

Nominator Katy Michiels shares, "She empowers us by being in the trenches with us every day, making sure we have the support we need, and logistically making sure everything is functioning behind the scenes of our academic systems. This campus would never be the same without her.”

Thank you, Mrs. Gaskins, for the support you give Barron’s teachers and students.

We also know that your rockstar morning announcement voice is unmatched! 📣 👏

💙 Our students have a few words for the people who serve them meals every day!

To our food service teams: thank you for the smiles in the serving line and the cafeterias that feel like home. Because of you, thousands of Rapides Parish students are ready to learn, play, and grow.

We see you, and we're grateful!

We hope all of our families are enjoying Fall Break!
Here's a school break guide for the rest of the year that we hope makes planning a little easier! 📅

When possible, please schedule trips, doctor visits, and other appointments during these stretches so your child doesn’t miss time in the classroom.

What would you build if you were asked to design an app for the Rapides Parish Fair?
💡 That was the challenge our students tackled this morning at the LSUA FAIR Future Collaboration.

Working with LSUA student coaches and university staff, school teams used AI to plan and build their own fair apps. Along the way, robotics students from across the district got to meet, compare ideas, and learn from each other.

Our top-scoring teams were Arthur F. Smith Middle Magnet, Buckeye High School, and Peabody Magnet High School. Those teams were entered into a drawing, and three students won laptops of their own!

We’re grateful to LSUA, Applied Digital, and the Rapides Parish Fair Board for partnering with us and for opening the door to experiences like this one!

This National School Lunch Week, we’re celebrating that all of our students can enjoy two free meals at school each day.

Breakfast is served at the start of the school day, so a late arrival can mean starting the morning hungry. In this video, Mr. Terrence Williams, our Director of Child Welfare and Attendance, joins teachers and students to talk about why mornings matter.

Families, getting your student to school on time means a full breakfast, a calm start, and a better day of learning!
