Today, members of the Algoma Fire Department, their spouses, significant others, friends, and kids participated in the 9/11 memorial stair climb at Lambeau Field.

To honor the 2,977 people that died
and the 343 FDNY firefighters that made the ultimate sacrifice that day…

110 stories…
2,200 steps…

We all likely remember where we were that day… Never forget the profound unity and strength that followed and carried our nation through its darkest days.

Algoma Fire & Rescue recently took delivery of 3 new cold water/ice rescue suits. These suits will be replacing older suits that were beyond further repair…imagine ice cold water leaking into your suit! Brrrrr!!!

The suits were made possible by fund raising and donations via the Algoma Fire-Rescue Association. Thank you to everyone who has donated, bought raffle tickets or come to events such as our Porky-pancake breakfast, the car show, or w**e fest. Your support saved tax payers $2,667!

“Modeling” the suits (from L-R) are FF/EMT Tiffany Neveau, FF/EMT in training John Kirchman and FF Ben Grambsch (I have to thank them for being good sports!)

Last night we braved the humidity and mosquitos to complete training using our Holmatro battery powered equipment or “Jaws of Life.” This equipment is what we would use in to extricate victims trapped in incidents such as motor a vehicle crash.

This equipment was a past purchase through fundraising and donations via the Algoma Fire-Rescue Association and saved tax payers over $40,000.

Algoma Fire & Rescue would like to extend a huge thank you to Jefferson Fire & Safety for their expertise and instruction as well as Grosbeier Auto and Towing for use of vehicles out at their property!

At approximately 11:30am on August 27, 2026, Algoma Fire and Rescue were dispatched to a private residence on Cherry Tree Rd in the Township of Ahnapee for the report of a house fire.

The Algoma Fire Department upgraded Kewaunee county MABAS Division 138 box 6-1-2 to the working still level which included mutual aid from Kewaunee, Casco, and Southern Door Fire Departments.

While en route, dispatch reported that the fire was on the exterior of the home and that the homeowner believed they had the fire out.

The first arriving units completed their assessment and evaluated for fire extension into the attic. The fire had extended into the attic space and was quickly extinguished. The home was then ventilated and mutual aid units were released shortly after arrival.

There were no injuries at the scene. During this event a secondary EMS call was dispatched in the City of Algoma and was handled by Algoma Rescue. All remaining Fire and EMS units were able to clear the scene and were back in service by approximately 1:30pm.

The Algoma Fire department would like to thank our mutual aid partners as well as the Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department and WPS for their assistance.
